I just bought an 89 GS and the previous owner snapped a couple of exhaust bolts off in the head. I was unsuccessful in my drilling and tapping and now find myself in need of a new cylinder head. If anybody could help me out. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I have two that you can have dirt cheap. However, one is in good condition but has external damage on the left side intake, and needs to have material added and tapped. The second is in good condition externally, but has a dropped valve guide, and needs to have new guides and seals put in.

Either one of them needs to go to a head shop, BUT, I'll give you either one of them for $30, then $100-150 at a shop, and you'll come out of it with a brand newish head for less than $200.

I should have a good one as compensation for a bad motor I bought, but I haven't seen it yet, If I can work that out I'll let you know about it too.

Thank you so much for the offer.  I'm not in a big hurry because of the impending winter here in Canada, so I will gladly wait to see if you get the good head (if it's being offered that is).  I'm not extremely confident in my ability to repair a damaged head, and I don't have the money to pay someone else, so...Can those valve guides and seals be replaced with the ones from my damaged head?  ...I'm just trying to learn.

The expense to repair one would be mostly in the labor, not the parts.

I just contacted the guy about the good head, he's supposed to be sending it to me this week, and you're welcome to call dibs on it. PM me to talk about a price.
