Anyone clear coated a tail fairing?

I'm trying to find the right clear coat for tail fairings. So far no success due to reaction of the paint with the plastic that makes it a little milky and not really clear.

I found some brand new old tail fairings and I want to buff them and give them a good clear coat like a gas tank gets. They should get protected from scratching with a nice clear coat.

What has anyone used on factory tail fairings that gives a good, glossy clear coat with UV protection? I'm talking about originals, not ones that have been sanded and repainted.

I gave some extra, badly damaged panels I can test on so I do not do any damage to the brand new originals I found (to go with the original new gas tank).

i haven't painted anything on the gs yet but i have had some good results with the rustoleum primers/paints/clear coats.

The absolute best rattle can clear coat is "2k Clear" from Eastwood. It's a little expensive and only gas a 24 hour shelf life after you start spraying, but it holds up to everything

Cool! Thanks a bunch for that tip. Ordered it.
I knew 2 part systems were best but never saw it in a spray can.

One note: There seems to be quite a wax/polish on the parts. Things seem to react with it and result in a white milkiness. I tried what the auto store guy suggested (who went to auto paint school) and cleaned my test piece with lacquer thinner. It didn't harm the plastic nor the decals. When the new stuff comes in I'll clean another test piece and try it and if all looks good after an hour, I'll clean and spray the good pieces.

That 2k Clear really works great!
Have to be sure piece is clean. A good wipe down with lacquer thinner gets any oil and wax off.
Thanks a billion for the tip!
