I just bought a 1999 GS500 to rebuild because it has a blown motor and only 2400? miles on the rest of the bike.  I also picked up a 2004 motor with less than 4000 miles on it a while back.

Bike has a clean NY title and is all there except the original motor (it's apart) and (for some reason) the seat lock.

The tank and tail are black but the tank has a small ding and the right side tail has some rash.

I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I can.  In the mean time, if there is anything you need, please PM me with an offer.

I'd looking to get $400 for the motor and $150 for the titled frame.  If someone wants to make me an offer on everything, I'm open to that also.

I decided to can this project because I got a good deal on a rebuildable SV650 and I couldn't pass it up.

how much do you plan on selling your front forks? mine are bent from an accident where there's no possible repair except for a replacement.

can you pm me a pic of it? If it's straight and have minimal rust, I'd definitely buy it from you. :thumb:

Could you post some pics of the entire bike so we have an idea of what we're looking at? I might be interested in the tank.

Are you selling individual pieces from the blown motor? I need one of those little oval covers that screws onto the left side sprocket cover, the one that covers the clutch adjustment screw right under where the clutch cable goes into the engine case.

If I can't get any pictures up tonight, I will definitely have them on Tuesday.

If you're parting the motor, I'd like the signal rotor

I have the tank here.  The rest of the bike is in another garage.

Here are some pictures of the tank.  You can see that there are two small dings in it.  But the inside is rust free.

I will have pictures of everything else tomorrow night.

I should actually have a few of those.  Make me an offer.

FYI, you know it doesn't have the mounting points for the GSF oil cooler, right?

I'll find out shipping but it's probably goint to be pretty expensive.

That part, I might need.  I'm building a GS450/GS500 Cafe racer.  GS500 bottom end and barrels, GS450 head. I'm not sure if that part is different between the 500 and the 450.  I'll have to compare them next weekend.

well how different is it?  I have a welder and I know how to use it.  I can cut off whatever I need off my GSF frame.

I'm no GS500 expert so the only difference I know about for a fact is the oil cooler mounts.  But knowing what I know about bikes in general, I would say there is probably some sort of mount on the frnt of the neck for the fairing stay to mount to.  Natually, this frame would not have that mount either.

I did a quick search and this is what I found.

Since it's a 99 it still has the old bodywork like the 89 so, as he said, the tank, seat and tail mounts would be different also.

Thanks for updating us.  I'd still like to buy those forks from you if they're straight :icon_mrgreen:
