I've been dealing with contractors at the house, moving a warehouse for my current business, gearing up for my busy season at said business and jumping through hoops for the appropriate licensing and wholesale accounts for a new business which I intend to open early Q1 2011.   Nope, not much time to kitty cat around with stupid shti like that online.

I've heard of this. There's a guy who even puts up photos of the silly things he gets the scamers to do. One was calling his church the Church of Bread and Wine and they had to put a load of bread and bottle of wine on their head and he would send them a donation.

He said, if you keep their emails, when you want to waste their time set up another email account and just replay as if nothing is wrong or different. They send so many emails they don't know who they get a bite from.

A lifelong friend of my mom (she's 75) just got taken this year for $50,000.   A foreign scammer assumed the identity of a guy in Georgia who had a Facebook account.  He claimed to need money for a plane ticket.   Told her all about his fiance and the wedding they had planned & all about their deep religious beliefs.   He was going to invite her to the wedding and pay her the money back at the wedding.

I don't know the details, but she either gave the emailer her bank account number or she just kept sending him more & more cash.

She still wants to go after this guy on Facebook.   She can't understand that the Facebook account is the only "real" thing here.   They guy who was emailing her and took the money had nothing to do with the guy on Facebook.
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Yeah, I've heard of it. Hilarious!  Go for it, the more you can get from the scum, even if it is just time, the better.

Giving someone your bank account number does nothing. If it did, all the 419 scammers would need to do is grab the details that various companies put up online so you can pay them, and suck That money dry.

The scam comes from what comes next...

#1: Sob Story or you win millions story.
#2: Ask for bank account details - just to see if you're wiling to play.
#3: To get the millions you need to send $ to Disperse the funds from the clearing house - this is what they are after.
#4: If you send, then other funds will mysteriously be needed for other releases and admin charges.

the rules are we cannot take money from them or abuse them over emails just waste their time as much as possible, no harm no foul done. At the moment Im baiting 2 people at the same time on from china(nigera IP) the other a Captain in iraq and waiting for a 67 yeaqr old cancer widow that has paralisys and a dead husband.

The rule to remember is if its too good to be true than it is and if you dont know said person dont meet them ( they are murders and thieves and can care less about you) and dont give them a cent. even from emails they will get your email from guestbooks and other sources. they even pose as a bank with a website  and othr things, those are the sites we try to get closed.

There was another 419 bait site without those rules. The money they took went back to the website to cover expenses. As for abuse...subject to interpretation, but some of the e-mail exchanges were epic!
