Just dis-assembled and cleaned the Rear caliper in preparation for painting tomorrow....I forgot I had changed the pads shortly before starting this project and ordered another set, at least I'll have spares....Will post up pics of the painted caliper tomorrow. Will also be doing the same to the front.

Not in to bad of shape just needs a good cleaning, inspection and painting....

On further inspection, pins are rusty, shims have baked on debris, and springs are somewhat corroded...All leading to sqeaky brakes...

Dis-assembly begins, pins coming out....

Well this is as far as I'm taking it down, I know it's a 2 piece caliper, but I don't need to split it to paint it...

All the bits cleaned and waiting for rebuild. Caliper needs a bit more cleaning with some sand paper especially where the pads sit. Once cleaned and treated to some brake clean and lite scuffing, I'll paint the caliper body.

Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

Looks Much better Fry. This is a detail often over looked when cleaning up a bike. When done properly the calipers with definately stand out and add to the overall look of the bike.

A lot of people do it to cars but you don't see it often on bikes. :thumb:

looks good, what color you going to paint it? I just did the same thing with my front and rear calipers but my rear one had a stuck pin in it,it sucked..

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

I don't have anything to say. I won't be able to sleep tonight wondering what disassembled painted, rusted, baked, corroded, I forgot I already changed my pads looks like.  :dunno_black:

At least he has spares.
