First off this isn't mine. I just ran across it this morning. Just thought I'd put it up here for anybody that was interested.

Here is a 92' GS500E with 15k miles, CLEAN OHIO TITLE. Used it for the summer then couldn't find time to ride. Ran when i put it away it's been sitting for a couple months. Carbs need some work. Turns over but wont start as of now. Tank has a pin hole leak on the left side, pealed the paint off to find it. New front and rear brakes, K&N air filter. Also have original air box and hand grips. $400 Firm. no trades please.

Not so sure he wants to sell it. Suppose to see it yesterday but didn't tell me where he lived. :dunno_black:

Typical! Then why is it posted? Just saying  :dunno_black:

He probably realized he could have asked a little more for it, and now doesn't want to sell it for $400.

I got another theory. He is doing what I call a bait ad. Its there to direct people away from another bike ad so tha tguy doesn't get a sale.
Like this -

I posted - Well I was asking 100 bucks for my am7, sony cubes and stands, but I changed the ad since I sold that.

This fool posted -

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/2014292630.html just about 1 day later.

Basically 45 bucks for a "bose" subwoofer.
Now I know some of the charlotte audio clowns. It basically is someone who has a ton of crap to sell and asking way too much for any of it, and never sells anything. I have talked to many of them cos they see my ad and call me ... usually they think I am a clueless fool and usually its to trade my reasonably priced item for their garbage which they claim is worth more than my asking price ... usually it goes nowhere. They get mad that I wont trade my Heil's for their 1989 sony stack box and they start posting garbage ads that parallel mine. My phone number triggers it usually. Sadly, it never works the way they intend it to, the guy that bought mine remarked that there were a lot of flakes on charlotte CL. I said, yes there are, and usually they follow me.

But then, it could just be a guy who's changed his mind, the flaky ads on CL atleast in charlotte dont have phone numbers or actual emails or even pics. You need a bose sub pic to go in your bose ad ...

Anyway, the ads succeed in driving down the price of future listings, and I easily scoop them up for cheap. Like I post an ad for 100, they post one for 50. I then delete or edit mine after sale. They let it sit there. Then to someone posting a similar item the new bench mark is 50 bucks, they try to beat that. Since I dont have a warehouse full of old audio junk I can easily think in terms of buying what shows up if I did want it.

Wow! I knew there were some shenanigans on CL and lot's of unscrupulous people in the world but this gives a new meaning to it!

BTW the clown only knows brand names, in fact there is 4-5 of those Idiots around here ... or pretty much all them clowns are that way.
If you show him a new pioneer Cassette deck, and a 70's CT-F9191 pioneer cassette deck and price them both @10 bucks, he will endlessly haggle with you about your new pioneer deck and try to buy it for 5. They will ignore the 9191. I have a 9191, along wiht a 7171, 8181 and quite a few 2121s' and those buggers are seriously collectible, along wiht the HK cdp 391, 491 etc.
They cant fix anything ... they buy brands without ever learning about what was happening in the company at that time ... line HK, buy before 77/78 or after 2005, marantz, again 78 or after 95 ... They have racks and racks of trash. Now of course just by pure accident they ended up with some decent stuff. With me its more like most of it is decent stuff, only that its broken. I buy those just to fix a similar broken one to be bought in the future. Better yet some sheite works for no reason. I bought 4 warranty return marantzes from 1 ex marantz dealer. all 4 were from the 95-2002 window when marantz stuff was very very good. I got all 4 working that same weekend. You see with a warranty return ... people will return it for no reason. Or if they had somethign else fail ... like your TV dies, you go return your vcr and dvd player.
Of course the DVD player worked when I tested it, then it went dead ... for near about 6 weeks, me and a friend of mine tried to fix it ... dead. Then I got it back home, tested it saturday, still dead, sunday 10 am I test it, its still dead ... I forget and leave it plugged in. 6pm its working and it has been working since. I gingerely moved it from my driveway to inside plugged, it in and worked great.

The geniuses that do the crap I see all the time on CL in charlotte cant fix stuff if it was staring at em in the eye.

And ... reel decks have become my recent favorite, you can scrape em up very very cheap, usually in busted condition. Get this, reel decks are 90% mechanical. I have fixed quite a few by cleaning and lubing them.
I got this absolute tank of a sony TC580 ... just about to get it back together ... stuck servo to the capstan, a little clean and lube ... took me 2 days to eventually find it though, but well, I also have to do it very slowly, cos I am not used to them ...

Its supposedly a very complicated deck. OK fine it could be complicated for a reel deck, but it aint gonna hold a challenge for me. Delicate, yes tha tcan be a whole other problem, complicated, I dont think so.
That dude has a dead TC530 ... if he had a sliver of sense he'd drop it off @ my house ... except, he's too cheap to pay $ and too stupid to pay in audio ... ergo, the dead 530.

Oh I found out about the fake ads by accident, I emailed with my lowessupport ID and he responded saying he didn't have the exact klipsch lascala's he was selling, but I could come by and check out the speakers he has before I buy some other speakers from CL cos I got really good stuff.

I went and looked at it. The first thing I saw was that it had a GS 450 cyl on it. I passed.

reajcox

Wow an engine change is vital information when selling a bike. Let alone a different engine.

Firstoni

I just looked at a gs450 last night .... it has a fuel leak between the petcock and the tank ....

What a coincidence =P
