I removed all 8 bolts around the left-side cover (the one that holds the Suzuki emblem) and it wouldn't budge when I pulled and tugged on it.  What else is keeping it in place?

What I'm doing is replacing it with an undamaged one.... can the gasket be transferred from one to the other or must I get a new one?

There are ten bolts that hold it on, so I suspect the remaining two are still doing their job! There are two behind the sprocket cover I think.

If it is the original gasket, you will definitley need to replace it. It will be extremely stuck to both surfaces.

Ok, you're right - why didn't I look at the new cover to see the other 2 holes - stupid me
