so i got up this morn and decided that id go for a ride... and after warming up my bike while i put my gear on i pull in the clutch and put the bike it to first gear and there is no clutch ( bike jumped and stalled).

i have noticed that since getting its first service last Tuesday the bike would stall in the morning when i put it in to gear. some other riders and a mechanic told me not to worry about as this normal for a wet clutch and warm the bike up longer, pump the clutch a couple of times  and hold the clutch in for 10 sec before putting it in to gear. these tips did work i might add and the bike is back to being normal.

so does anyone have this problem?

I notice that if I try to start mine when it is cold and in gear the clutch pulled in it will want to surge forward. But I know this is due to the wet clutch, if i start it neutral and let it warm up for 30 secs it is fine after that.

I noticed early on that, if I had the choke all the way off after the brief warm up period - lets face it, a few minutes of higher than normal idle first thing in the morning  isn't fully warming the bike - and put it into first, the bike would conk out. Since then I either give it some revs before/during putting into gear for the first time - or - I leave the choke on so i'st idling around 2k, pop it into first, Then turn the choke all the way off. Doing either of those has not seen the bike conk out when going into first after sitting all night.

Like the squeaky rear brake, this seems to be one of the free standard items that comes with the GS.

squeaky back brake how i know the feeling... pull up at the lights and everyone looking at me  as i squeak to a stop

ill try a little longer warm up tomorrow and see how it goes.

Don't feel too bad about it Clancy, mine doesn't squeak either.

Mine used to squeak all the time. After I had the rear tyre replaced it hardly squeaks at all now. Only if I stay on the rear for a lo-o-o-ong time and then it's minor.

Squeaky brakes = same as on a car.
Dirty rotor or pads.
Get some spray on brake cleaner.
Problem solved. Worked for me.
(Unless your down to metal to metal, then you might consider new brake pads. Things that won't work: note pads, i-pads, sanitary pads, gel pads.)
Tire (tyre) replaced: they probably cleaned the rotor and may have put on new brake pads.

Well... then Suzuki must save up all their dirty gear and throw it on the GS cause it's seems to be only a GS prob. People have tried new pads, new rotors and all sorts to get rid of the GS's squeak. Some find success putting lube on the pad shim, some find success with a Katana rotor, some realign the rear wheel. But one thing it ain't is dirty pads or rotors. Not unless they get dirty as soon as you ride out the door cause this happens on Brand New bikes with less than 100 clicks on them.

My pads are still original. Had the squeak since brand new.

Read up on it. You'll see this is a standard issue with the GS500.

I think it depends on how awesome the rider is. My awesome levels are off the scale and mine don't squeek.

Mine squeaked like hell brand new out of the showroom :p

Sounds like you guys are getting "chatter" between the pad and caliper...pull your pad, put some hi-temp silicone on the back, smear it around and replace the pad...this used to be common on late '70s and early '80s cars with disc brakes...it sounded like the "squealer" (pad wear indicator) was touching the rotor, but it was the pad vibrating against the caliper...mine doesn't do it either, but that may be the culprit...??
