No I am serious -

Carbon fiber everything. Yea that will keep carbon from getting loose and becoming Co2. Impurity in carbon wont matter if we are making say bricks from that stuff, so we could be sloppy just trap the thing and make it.

OK yes I know this is the genius buddha like idea from someone who sits at a desk all day ... but in some form I suspect this idea has some merit.

Cool.

Not suck all the co2, just the extra ... its pretty hard to actually get it out of the air BTW. But the secondary problem is putting it after we get capture it.

we'll trap all the C but then we'll have excess O2.  there will be so much oxygen that we'll be high all the time.

The Buddha

Not even close ... we would only suck enough co2 as we think is excess.

Arrrgggggghhhhh...

CO2 does NOT cause the global temperature to rise.

It's amount in the atmostphere is like 0.06%. Stuff all, right? And of that small small number, human contribution is like only 3%.

Now... when water is Warm CO2 is released into the atmosphere (such as equator); when water is cool, CO2 leaves the atmosphere and enters the water (such as the poles).

The warmer the ocean overall, the more CO2 is released - from the ocean - into the atmosphere. Carbon Pump

There is this thing that heats the water. It's call the Sun.

Our planet has a 100,000 year cooling/warming cycle.

The continents move. As the ocean currents (which carry hu-frigging-mungus volumes of water) need to change their paths. The increased warm water, or reduced warm water flowing into an area, can change the climate of That area.

Thinking we can keep the temperature to a desired level by taxing human CO2 (just 3% of the minute 0.06% of CO2 in the atmosphere) is just a modern day version of an Indian doing a rain dance. There's more darn Argon in the Atmosphere than CO2.

And if you drink arsenic there is still lots more water in your body than arsenic, but a small amount of arsenic can kill you.  What's more, there is a level of arsenic which, once it is reached, becomes fatal.

You make a stupid argument.  Not that your "argument" even deserves a response, but why would you believe oil-industry hired gun scientists over the vast majority of independent scientists studying climate change?  Do you believe everything corporate Amerika tells you, and everything you hear on Fox Noise?  If so, I'm sorry.  Neither source is objective, and neither can be believed.

Global warming is real.  It is cyclical, for certain, but the RATE of acceleration coincides with the greatest explosion of the use of internal combustion engines in human history.  To say that man is not responsible is ludicrous.  To say that we can have no effect is equally ludicrous when it is obvious that we HAVE had a negative effect.

I won't participate in an argument with science-deniers, so don't expect a response if that's your position.

when tofu became popular in the US, the cattle industry put out claims that tofu increases females hormones in men blah blah blah.

now that bio-fuels are gaining popularity the oil industry swears alcohol production is more harmful to the environment than oil blah blah blah.

i cant say for sure what's the truth but do you know we are burning ~90 million barrels of oil a DAY world wide? hard to believe releasing that kind of energy into the atmosphere has no effect

The Buddha

OK fine I'll put some female hormones in the CF and then feed it to fat chicks or Rush Lame-baugh.

Now where is my carbonfiber GS ... sadly most Carbon fiber is made from carbon that already is trapped in coal and other sources. The carbon fiber BS will work only after we find a way to pluck co2 out of the atmosphere.

Considering one decent volcanic eruption equals a hundred years of industrial pollution you can grasp the scope of the whole thing.  We aren't even fleas on a dog.  I won't even get into forest fires that no longer burn out of control as they did before the airplane.  As for CO2 emissions, that's a straw dog.  Water vapor is what reflects heat back to Earth, not CO2.  The amount of water vapor in the atmosphere at any given time is governed by solar activity.  It's just a control game based on false premises.  They've been trying to scare and control us forever.  When I was little it was DDT. (proven since to be harmless)  Then we were going to run out of oil by 1999.  Then it was killer bees that never came.  Then it was the ozone hole.  Then it inexplicably closed.  Now it's global warming.  It's all the same game and it's all bunk.

DDT is still harmful. The ozone hole is still there too.

Bill I had a hard time and still do with understanding this concept.
The earth has in the past been warmer than now, in fact it may have been as much as 15 degrees warmer.
The earth creates its own self sustaining heat and cooling cycles which we really dont have much control over.
Yes volcanoes create a lot of heat in a short span and they sorta take a few 100 years and cool back down.
Super volcanoes do a lot more of it and poison the whole atmosphere with acidic gas and cause everything to go extinct. There have been 3 of these in the past apparently.
Meteor strukes etc etc do the same thing, possibly 2-3 of these as well.
However the issue with human caused global warming is that we have increased the temp ~2-3 degrees in about a 1/2 century. That is too fast for evolution to catch up.
Cool.
