Hi Everybody!  Let me introduce myself, my name is Brian.  I've been lurkin around the site now for about 3 weeks. I picked up my 2006 GS500F for $1500 about a month ago.  It has 9,000 miles, a few scratches on the fairings from being dropped, but other than that is in good condition.  The previous owner didn't have any mirrors on it so I've been trying to figure out what's compatible.  I've done a few searches on here but I can only find consistent info on the integrated turn signal gsxr mirrors.  From the links below, which mirrors do I buy to fit my 2006 F?   Thanks in advance for any help :thumb:

Sure you don't want the turn signal ones?

:)

Someone i know had these on his 05 GS and he said they bolt right up to the stock mounting points.

I'm about to buy some of the integrated gsxr mirrors on ebay but I cant deceide between the ones you have tbolt or the OEM ones.  I was reading thru Galahs write up from a while back and it seems like there was something about the OEM signals being brighter/more visible.  How do you like yours?  I plan on replacing the stock signals with LED flush mounts (lack of frontal visibility should be overcome by the presence of the mirror indicators).  Also will the aftermarket ones really mount straight to the stock brackets?

Sorry to thread hack brain.  If you dont want the integrated signal mirrors why not just install the stock gs mirrors?  They are larger and provide more visibility behind you.

@tbolt - They are sexy, but i'm just to lazy to do the work!  I'm not exactly much of an electrical guy either, if I bought them, they would sit in my garage for a few weeks until i really tried to figure it out.  I need something that I can install right away so I can get legal on the road, i'm sure i'll upgrade to them one day.

@jlog65 - I'm sure the build quality isn't the best but i'm lookin for somthing cheap and bolt right up.  $18 for a pair is hard to beat, plus I like the fact that they are a little shorter.

It's my neighbor's bike and he sold it. When i saw it, the mirrors looked like they were mounted on the stock tabs but he said he had to grind off some material to make it perfect. I dunno why he didn't just use the plastic ones that come with the kit since they are a direct bolt on replacement. They look really nice in person and when i took it out for a spin, i certainly noticed BETTER than stock visibility to the sides (convex mirror) and rear. He had them wired to run with stock front signals so i guess they add visibility. They looked very bright at night although the stock ones are definitely brighter during the day.

hmm.  I've got a bid on ebay for the OEM mirrors ($0.01 currently winning) but if something happens and I dont win I think I may go with the ones your neighbor had.  They look less bug-eyed.  I think that by modifying the mirrors to mount to the existing bracket they will be more stable and have less wind vibration than if you were to mount somewhere else using the plastic ones.  But I may be wrong.  I'll know more once I have them in my hand and can see them.  I just really hate the stock turn signals on the GS.  I've got a sequential integrated tail light on order so I'll be able to get rid of all four "lights on a stick".

tb0lt I really like the look of those mirrors. Any idea how difficult it is to do the wiring to join the regular turn signals? Might be a stretch, but know if they draw a lot of power from the battery? If you came across my post, I was having a battery problem because of tons of aftermarket lights from the previous owner, I don't want to kill the battery now that everything is working well. Thanks

jlog65

They're LED so they shouldn't draw much.  As for mounting and wiring I'll let you know in a week when mine come in. Should be pretty simple

If you splice them onto the existing signal wiring, they should light up with the stock ones. If you disconnect the stock ones and connect the 2 wires from the harness to the LED lights, they should light up by themselves. I don't know if that makes sense........

From my experience with LEDs on cars, their current draw will be very low and shouldn't strain the electrical system at all. LEDs are super sensitive to voltage though... if your battery and charging system are good, they should light up just fine.

Since my thread has been successfully hijacked al queda style, thx for the bumps btw, let me see if anyone can answer my question...does anyone know which mirrors from my original post will fit my bike?

Thanks, yea definitely interested to see how they come out. Also, I noticed the mirrors are shorter?/closer to the middle of the bike. Is that adjustable or anything? I like the stock mirrors because my arms don't kill the view, I'm afraid I'll lose some of the view with the LED mirrors. Any input?

I can barely see out of the stockers. Those wouldn't work for me.... :icon_rolleyes:

I don't believe any other OEM bike mirrors fit the GS I've searched high and low and never found anything off another bike that fit perfect. With some ingenuity, handy work, and lots of filing I have the GSXR ones on mine.

If you use only the led's instead of running them parallel to the stockers, they will flash much faster. I believe I have heard of them blowing relays on the gs though . . . .

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

Since I did take over your thread earlier I found you some cheap mirrors.

I saw this on another post and thought I would pass it along.  Im not sure on the mounting specs of any of them but I'm sure with a little elbow grease you can make them fit.

What needed to be filed down? My integrated turn signals are really tough to see during the day (awesome at night) so would be nice to supplement with mirrors not to mention I like the look. Could be down for a decent project but don't know how tough it would be to get a fit.

Btw to anyone who has done the wiring, is there a page somewhere that sorts everything out? I did alright in the electrical section in physics but don't have much experience haha. Also, do the plastics have to come off? I don't  know how I'd ever fit my hands to reach the turn wires.

Toogoofy317

The wiring was the easiest part. I did have to drill my fairing. The filing came from me making special plates behind the mirrors to keep them from vibrating.  I think if you search gsxr mirrors and my name I did somewhat of a write up.
