Hacksaw fenderectomy, mounted the license plate (thanks, dealership, for making it a four-month delay), and installed a power lead for our Battery Tender.

Can't imagine what a dealer would do to delay chopping off the fender.
When I put an original fender and turn signals back on Junior (my 92), I threw in the trash two perfectly good cut fenders, turn signals and other parts because no one wanted them. (I prefer a more original look.)

I'm assuming it was the license plate that was delayed..

Put final clear coat on Gimbel Cafe Racing seat. Touched up and clear coated another red/black tail set tail set for Junior and some extra tail centers. The taping on the seat I found in my parts bin and is really tail tapings for a GS500F. I though they looked cool so I put them on then clear coated the whole seat. Finish should be cured enough by the weekend to put the seat pads back on and see how it looks on Junior. I'll also try out the "new" tail set. Fun to change tail sets & colors - like having a new bike.

Put a new starter on Flick the other day. Now he starts like a champ! YAY no more bump starting!

See. People disbelieve when you say adding a sticker or some little thing will add horsepower. Look, Mary added and sticker, it increased the level of magic and now the bike goes.  :thumb:

She did write "starter", but I agree with you that buying your bike presents make it run better.

When it dropped to 16 degrees here before Thanksgiving, I went out to see if Suzi and Junior would start. Suzi: no. Junior: instantly. You see, Junior just had a make-over and Suzi was feeling neglected.

That day the new smoke turn signals for Suzi arrived at the office. When I went home, she still wouldn't start.  So I showed her the new turn signals. Put them on and she started right up  :D . And I thought only my cats gave me attitude  :dunno_black:

Now since I don't have any money, can I just give my bike a hug and all will be well?

Washing and an oiling of the chain works. Its not the money or the bling-bling --- Bikes need to know you care.

What'd I do today to the bike? Something with an intercooler

(Maybe its just my late night opinion, but the more I look at these photos the more I think Junior is one really hot looking bike. Maybe because of all the work I've done restoring him or maybe because he is really a one of a kind bike  :dunno_black: Or is it a couple glasses of 1999 Lambert Ridge Cuvee  )

I couldn't wait. It's late (2am) and cold outside in the garage (36 degrees) but I just had to see how Junior's second Gimbel solo seat looked. This one replaces the side panels and bolts on so took a little while to figure it out. Still needs buffing but that can wait a few weeks for the urethane to fully cure. It is the correct Candy Antares Red but from rattle cans. Clearly they atomize the paint different than a thousand dollar spray gun so the glitteriness is grainier than the tank. But still looks OK. Not easy to match a 3 layer paint (base, translucent color and clear top coat) in exact texture to the factory paint of the tank. I did apply the right number of coats to match the color depth and intensity. In spite of a slight difference in deep texture, it still looks really good. It has that deep color translucent look that is really cool with candy type paints.

I know Suzi will be jealous so I better do some things for her or she'll throw a fit and probably won't start or something like that. Bikes can have more attitude than a cat  :icon_rolleyes:

Fender and cowling were also rattle canned with Candy Antares Red. You only notice the difference in the deep texture when up close.

It is so much fun changing Juniors look every few weeks. One day (when its warmer) I'll try putting on the factory original full cowling I found in England. Fortunately it is also Candy Antares Red and black.

I think I'll remount the license place flat against the fender (remove the bracket) and same for the red reflector. Still don't feel like cutting off the fender. If I ever did, I'd buy a spare and do it to that or put on the undertail cover with the stainless steel turn signal and license plate mount I have on the shelf.

Now, question is: should I put on the all black belly pan or a red one? Or a red one with dark and light silver stripes to match the tank and tail taping? Or leave it as it is for now?

The only problem is it is a racing seat that bolts on, so you don't have key access to the storage area under the seat. Junior does have some neodinium magnets on the frame for traffic lights. I can always stick an allen wrench for the seat to one of them. They're so strong you can hardly remove them from the bike.

filled up, dropped in an ounce of starTron in the tank, and went on a short spin. Reluctantly thinking of pulling the battery for the winter.

Installed a blow off valve that might tickle a little...

Ditto, that was my day as well. Just in time, looks like it'll be 20 degrees and snow storming within in about a day

Been there this year. Twice. Inspect the gasket closely before you install it. My first replacement head gasket had a tear in it.

what did i do for my bike today?
hmmm

I rode her to keep her nice and warm in the sub 32 degree weather  :D

I put on my used Pro-Taper handlebars, new grips, bar end mirrors, and lost the rabbit ears. I broke the throttle tube taking it off, so I ebay'd an sv650 tube to give it a quicker twist.

I also rev'ed it up riding in to work today, and scored free parking.
