40000-80000 psi with garnet on that alum shouldn't tear it up that much

how thick is that stock?

saxman

Don't mean sharp edges as a byproduct of water jetting. I mean sharp edges as a byproduct of just doing a cut through. On the cnc, I've basically chamfered all of the edges.

Using 1/4" stock.

With all the linkages in place.

Think I need to modify the placement on the lever for the linkages to mount up to. I feel like I could get a little better leverage.

I like how wide the shifter pedal O0 is but maybe you should off say....1/2 inch?

The shifter is 2" long, the peg 4. It looks a lot longer in the pictures.

...and when will these be available to board members?

Just wanted to say that these look amazing. I love the fact that you can still the marks from machining.

Once finals are over(Friday), I'll be turning my attention towards finalizing the design for production.

Good luck on the finals.  Looks awesome!

I agree that 2" is a little long for a shifter peg.  Even 1.5" is a little long, 1 inch is more like it.

I'm out of town for the holiday. I'll get back on it when I get home Monday or Tuesday.

Saxman disappeared off the face of the earth, best I can tell. He had a great GS500 project going, and we haven't seen any updates in a while. My guess is that life got the better of him.

I'm thinking of starting a project to build some rear-sets for the GS500. My plan is to fabricate some brackets that will mount name brand parts to our GS. That should provide excellent parts availability in the event crash replacements are needed, without a lot of expense.

Too bad...he put a ton of work into this project and they look great! Hopefully he'll be back soon and get these on the market.

That is a really good idea, I would be willing to bet it was cheaper that way too. I cant imagine it being cheap to have only 10 parts CNC'd at a machine shop especially if you have to have the program for the cutting paths done for you. If you need any help with that I can lend some CAD experience.

Thanks mass-hole. I created a topic on the thread - it looks like the 06-10 GSX-R design might be ideal for this. That model year bike already uses an adapter plate that could be replaced by a part suitable for the GS500, and a couple aftermarket companies make rearsets that bolt right on to the OEM plate. Take a look at my thread on the subject.
