i know this question probably comes up alot. BUT. its cold here, and possibly gonna dump 4-8 inches of snow in the next while. i was out lookin at some bikes and their exhaust's. one that has yet to leave my mind is the "taylormade exhaust systems" all performance and money issues associated with them aside. i think they look AWESOME.

i know i could fab up the piping for all this, but i have no clue how it would sound. any suggestions/pics for other ideas that might look rockin on a GS ? (i have a 2005 F model)

all ideas are welcome.

btw how loud is a GS with an open pipe? is it as raspy as i think it would be?

or this VooDoo style one..

On the next season im planing to put this thing on my gs
This will look like in your pictures, and sounds awesome. But also this will not make the police happy due the sound  :icon_lol:

I tried running the GS with an open pipe for a few minutes and felt that it sounded too ghetto. It is too loud and raspy. Parallel twins with cylinder timings like the GS just don't have the rumble of V twins running pipes.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650R has a short underbody exahust from the factory and is setup very similar to the GS engine. They sound MUCH better than the GS.

I have a D&D on my GS500 which is pretty loud.  I think it's on the high end of what I like for sound (as in slightly too loud).  My girlfriend thinks it's just right.  So I'm guessing it's a matter of opinion, regardless of which system you put on if the volume is right for you.

This guy have plenty of pipes like this http://myworld.ebay.com/radcyclesllc/

are they all just straight pipes? i was hoping to be able to add some sort of micro baffling if possible.

redhenracing2

I ran with a cutoff pipe for a while, and got a ticket for 'improper exhaust'. I liked the way it sounded, it's just a matter of making it look good.

I am also waiting on someone to bring up seamax

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

i dont do much highway riding. so loud isnt a real problem, i just like the whole motoGP style thing. and my stock exhaust is lookin all nast.

GI_JO_NATHAN

Yeah you could do it like seamax and put the pipe under the bike with a motogp style tip coming out.

servus,

that are the same pipes as this one:

I´ve buyed these two ones at a motorbikeshow in germany.

PS: your swingarm is on the way to you!

Why does the exhaust always come out of right side?

I would like to see something like this, but on the left side..  :icon_razz:

Maybe because you get on and off from the left side. More chance of getting in the way and of getting burnt if on the left.
Maybe because of getting on and off from the left, bikes fall on the left more often so more chance of damage to the exhaust.
There's nothing else on the right except the brake. The left has the shift, side and center stand so it would probably annoy me having the exhaust on the left getting in the way of the other stuff and when mounting and dismounting the bike.

Cool Jim. I like how the exhaust tips are angled. Mine are straight but I would like them to be angle and have not found any tips that I like.

Can't wait to get the swingarm.  :woohoo:
