Since ebay does not let you see who else is bidding, the excruciatingly long thread of ebay ID's is useless.
We need a topic where we can post when we're bidding on so we don't drive up the price by bidding against each other.
Also, that let's others who might have the part on their shelf post that they have one, too, so we can sell off our extra stuff.
We can also post "best offers" we've made to sellers so we get an idea what they want for an item.

Another good topic would be "Hot deals on ebay". We can post good deals for others that we find. Like I found a right crankcase cover like new for $15. Something others would probably want. This way we won't be starting so many threads. Just one thread of deals we see on ebay.

Another good one would be "Stuff I have on ebay". Then we can support our GStwins members. If we do a "make offer", we can know it is a GStwin member and maybe take a lower offer than we would from a stranger.

PS: As many of us have discussed the problem of people wanting to buy and not following up, this would eliminate that. You want it - you have to bid.  Even though there is a small ebay fee, I'd rather pay that than go through the 2 or 3 times I've had someone want a belly pan, held it for a while and telling others it is sold, then the person never follows through.

This also eliminates the problem of sellers not shipping. You would have paypal buyer protection.

Hmm... I see your purpose.. but I am not sure if this is a good idea or not. Something tells me it might end up having negative consequences even for the straight forward ones among us. Maybe it is the whole Big Brother aspect of it.

As for people not paying for stuff, I always take an immediate deposit for anything that is high demand or when I have to spend my time getting the item ready. I also set a specific date for getting the remaining amount or in-person-pickup. This technique has worked beautifully for me on all sorts of forums over the last 10 yrs or so. Never had this issue you seem to be having.

Just some thoughts worth discussing.
When someone says "I'll pay Friday when I get paid" then never follow through - its a little different than when they bid on ebay.
Maybe when I get more mobile in a couple weeks, I'll put stuff on ebay then post that I have them there. If someone wants it, they bid on it. I have had many good sales here on the board. Maybe being on crutches for a while which makes it hard to gather up and box stuff made me a little frustrated with those who don't follow through.

Just thinking of ways to make it easier and more reliable way to unload all of the extras I've acquired: luggage racks, tail plastics, axles, factory clip-ons, belly pans, headlight cowlings, headlights, bolts, nuts, brackets, chain guards, side & center stands, springs, various engine crash bars, chain guards, controls, rims, chains, sprockets, bar ends, brake rotors, and so forth.

In few weeks when I can ride again I'll start disposing of all these extras - I think I need room for another GS500E.

Until then, support my habit of acquiring stuff (what else can I do when I can't ride?) by buying stamps with Suzi on them:

Uhm, you have way too much time on your hands. I couldn't even get a gear review section up on the site so i doubt all of that indepth stuff will make it.

Well, until I can ride again, YES, I really do have too much time on my hands and butt.
See the dr. tomorrow to remove stitches so I'll have better idea when I can ride.
Sad thing is right now there really isn't much good on ebay so talk about being bored  :technical:

when you do get better in a few weeks adidasguy, I'd be interested about your luggage racks. Are they for the E or F?

adidasguy

I have a few different types for both. I recall buying one each of whatever I could find.
