Put my battery back in and tried to start her up... now its sitting in the garage with the battery tender. Hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow, before I leave for another semester without riding  :icon_sad:

I started mine just to amuse myself.  :cookoo:

I bought a 94 GS500E just before Xmas. We get serious winter here so I have had no chance to ride it (which is driving me nuts). One of the selling features, and something that impressed me hugely, was the way it starts.  It doesn't crank at all.  No, really.  I open the choke about 1/4 and the instant I touch the starter button the thing is running.  In this case, the bike hasn't been started in nearly three weeks.

Is this normal for the GS500? It's sure impressive.   :thumb:

Mine was that way after a jet kit, but most people seem to have problems with starting, mostly in the cold. Mine, I could leave it sitting for a month and then walk up and have it start almost before I touched the button. Before rejet it was the biggest pita. Is yours jetted?

Yes. The previous owner said he rejetted it. He's a professional mechanic and seems to have had a good touch with this one.

Had a big day yesterday, I swap out the front forks, tire, brake system, fuel tank, petcock, side fairings, exhaust, rear tire and sprockets from parts bike. Put in a K&N drop in filter, and a 2001 katana 750 shock. All is good...
If your not first you're last!

Bought a new windscreen  :woohoo:

...sadly, found out upon arrival that not only they sent me a windscreen and brackets that won't fit together, it seems the screen itself is not GS500-compatible, too. :technical: :icon_rolleyes:

Oh well.
Luckily the guy is a PowerSeller (yes, I got it off eBay). Let's see what happens next...

Hey, Simon if it doesn't pan out let me know. I just bought an extra one off ebay for $10.10. If you need it I don't mind passing it on. Well for an "f" that is.

Started up both Junior and Suzi (so they know I still care) even though I can't ride yet. Let them run for about 10 minutes to warm up and charge up the batteries really good.

Put ASV C/5 brake lever on Junior.

Ordered cool custom seats for both (Well, Suzi had only 1 seat where Junior has 4 different ones) from Germany.

They do make one for the newer F models.

Ordered a couple parts so I can put ASV C/5 clutch levers on Junior and Suzi. Will post photos of how I did it when finished. (Gotta do something while I can't ride.)

Cosimo_Zaretti

That seat is seriously awesome, where did you order it from?

I had to email and ask about the F seat. He said he could. Both should be here in a week. He takes PayPal.
Price is a little higher than the ebay auction in Germany because he asks for your seat then recovers it. Since it is not practical to ship a seat to Germany, he charged a little extra for a used seat there to reupholster.

I would deliver seat GS 500 F incl. lettering for € 272,00 and seat GS 500 E incl. lettering for
€ 221,00 ex works.
Shipping cost would be approx. € 65,00 for both seats by DHL.
