So i have a fully charged battery(tested) and I tried to start the bike this morning and all i got was the clicking sound that we've all come accustomed to after a month or two without a tender. What are signs that the solenoid has died or is on its way? 

On my seca it was a dead starter that made the solenoid click. Something like there is a bunch of shorts in the starter coil, that causes it to pull in extra current, but not make enough torque to spin the motor.
You also can end up with that same situation with a hydrolock in the motor.

So, Pull the spark plugs out and attempt to start it. If the motor spins then that = one of those 2 is going on.
If the motor spins and spits tons of gas that = hydrolock.

Hydrolock is a petcock/carbs issue. Its oveflowing into the cyl, very dangerous, you can bend a rod that way.
DOA starter = well ... get a new starter.

Then we call the ken and go over there with cheapo beer.
Oddly since I am miraculously somehow still employed, we get the employed version of the cheapo beer. Hefeweizen.

Try shorting across the solenoid terminals with something like a screwdriver (DO NOT let it touch any part of the motor or frame!), and if the starter works fine your problem is the solenoid.

It probably doesn't help that I lost the rubber boot that goes over it about a year ago either.

is that the fine German beer that you get from ALDI's??

horrible frieght.....10-15 dollar voltage/multi meter
blk on ground
red on batt
read DC volt
red on both sides of starter relay
one same as batt/one 0v
push starter button
both should be same....probably less than batt volt
relay should be ok....but starter is having issues...
can you put bike on center stand /in gear/ and rotate the rear wheel?
if no....pull plugs and repeat....

No Its the fine german beer you get from texas. Shiner - Its sold usually @ Hairy Titties or lowes foods.

I also like the Trader's Joe version which atleast seems to be more reliably stocked.
