I was just wondering if anyone else here has a spare set of keys to their bike....I've ran all over town at Lowe's and Home Depot trying to get another spare key made for my bike....It seems the tolerances are way to slim for "cheap-o" hardware stores.....Anyone have a suggestion?

One another note I'm getting ready to rejet my bike w/ 140's and what the mod. section explains....It should be cake but my question is that my K & N filter is basicaly a stock OEM replacement filter that goes into the air box. Does company make a "cold air intake" tube that would route/force air in from the front? What's the difference from the K &N filter I have now and a K & N pod filter?

thanks for the help-O- great ones  *bows*

Not sure about the filter, but I got a spare key off Ebay. It was 7$ with shipping, but probably cheaper than going to the dealer

just go here, this is the guy I got it from:

Shipping was really fast and no hassle. If it's not listed, E-mail him, I'm sure he has it.

You mean 40's for pilots and 127.5 mains... 140 mains are just plain too big for the K&N in airbox and too small for pods K&N's.
Cool.

I've figured out that a real locksmith is the way to go for vehicle keys.  They cost a couple dollars more, but they seem to do the job right.  Some of them can even do cool "custom" jobs for you (see the old thread Finally had a key made!).

If you're having trouble finding a good key blank, then here's some tips from some old threads:

Suzuki suz12 (short) or suz18 (long) work, and are available at ACE Hardware stores.
ILCO X241 SUZ18 works
Volvo blank #46 works.
Datsun blank DA 24 from Sears works. [EDIT: updated]

(thanks to those who contributed this info)

But if you're getting good blanks, but the copies don't work for you, then it's possible that your original key is worn-down, and the quality of the copies is not close-enough to original.  In that case, you would need a new key machined to match the lock core, or get the lock core repinned.

According to Pablo, there may be a code inside the ignition, which the Suzuki dealer can find and use to make a new key.

According to bbanjo:
Quote from: bbanjoTake the cylinder to a Lowes and talk to the hardware guys. They can get the profile with a blank and cut your replacement key by matching the tumblers.

[EDIT: the Suzuki or Ilco SUZ12 key seems to be the blank of choice]

I got a blank from a local Suzuki dealer easy enough, but they couldn't cut it, and neither could any of those places with the reproduction machines that use those numbered "boxes."  I found I had to go to a hardware store with the old-school cutting machine - the style that clamps your original up next to your blank and follows the contours (and since our keys are double-edged, it had to be manually flipped over) rather than the newer model that sticks them both in boxes with slots which are then put into the cutter.

I got mine cut at a regular auto parts store. The idiot botched the job on one side, however, so he didn't charge me (Wow, what a swell guy)
I don't really care though, the key just works one sided, and serves its purpose as a spare.

Hi-T

I had a spare made for 4 dollars at Sears.  The key blank was for a Datsun (key number DA 24).

As far a cold air intake- it may look cool but it isn't necessary for the gs-  It will not to anything as far as helping the bike breath.  Your best improvement will be removing the air box and using a pod filter.  Do a search on the Turbo bike and you'll get a better feel as to why you don't need a 'ram air'.

new SUZUKI key cut AT DEALER for $5. Try the source first before assuming they're out to rip you off.

K&N oem replacement filter does not require rejetting. You can rejet if you want for stock condition (same as stock filter).

K&N pods allow MUCH more air in so you HAVE to rejet to get it to run well. No, it wont run at all without rejetting.

thanks for all the help. Does any one have a part Number for the pod filter?
