i want to start making my 06 gs500f look better but dont know where to get the parts to do this. parts such as handlebars mirrors windsheilds etc... any help would be great thank you

Twisted

What did you have in mind?

Ebay would be the place to start looking or this section of the forums.

i just am not sure if i buy a part like handle bars if it will fit on to the bike. and i really liked the look of the seat cowl from cowl tech but i read alot of bad things on here about them wonder if anyone used them and liked them?

adidasguy

Don't order from them. Takes forever and is a real pain. They lie about tracking and where your package is.

Before ordering anything, always ask here. Lots of us have extra parts. Heck, I've got 3 to 5 rear cowlings I don't need. Even a cowltech one that I might part with. (I'm sort of knows as the parts-collector)

Always ask and include a link to what you are wanting to buy. Others will hound in and say if it will fit or not and if that company is the best to order from.

Also browse the "Wall of Fame" and include a link if you see something on a bike you like. We'll help you find it.

Yea, that's the one I bought and the company you don't want to order from (took 4 months of fighting to get it)

I have this seat on Suzi:

so I'm never going to use the cowltech thingy. They come unpainted. Mine is in the box. Never did anything with it.
If you're serious about it, I'll sell it for the cost ($159) and $10 shipping. Paypal only.

Browse postings about the factory clip ons --- the ones from Europe. If serious, I do have an extra set of those. They come standard Suzuki silver.

i deffenitly take the cowl off your hands. do you have a side view of what the clip ons look like do they lean lower and not as high up as the stock ones?

adidasguy

Do a search for posts and photos by me. You'll find the treads with discussions and more photos. There are photos showing the difference in position.
This was in one of the threads showing the difference:

But do read the threads. These bars are not "crotch rocket" style but somewhere in between.

nchudyjr

i actually like that style alot how much do you want for both the cowl and clip ons?

adidasguy

The rear cowling I paid $159 + p&h. I have a set of clip ons you can have. They have only one minor problem: the screws holding the clips to the top plate corroded and are stuck. Not a problem, though, as you never need to remove the clips from the top plate. The bars come out just fine. Bar ends are held on with just a screw so you can use your existing bar ends and shorten the screw (the screw hole does not go all the way through - try to tighten too much and you'll sheer off the screw. Been there. Done that. )  I'll find a good pair of original steel bars or you can have a pair of unused aluminum Woodcraft bars (bar ends would then need the rubber bushing) or you can always cut your bars and use them (I wouldn't as people are always looking for good, original bars after they drop their bike and bend the bars). Good set of factory clip ons usually go for $100 or more. They're hard to find. There are 3 types. These would be the ones that fit the "F" size tank.

I'd go $235 for the lot shipped to you UPS ground. Specify which bars you want.

nchudyjr

do you have any other types of handle bars besides the clip ons?

adidasguy

I do have a stock set of bars. I'm taking them off of Trey (my new 1994 yellow bike) Saturday and putting on the European clip ons.
I don't have anything like Vortex or the other really aggressive bars that require you to adjust/modify the front fork.
I specialize in the factory clip ons - especially the 2 models that were sold in Europe and Canada (There is another model sold only in 1989 in the USA. They each have slightly different clips for the bars.)

nchudyjr

ok ill just take the cowl then how do we do this im new to all of this

adidasguy

I'll PM you. You can have the cowl for $159 that I paid (which is what CowlTech charged). Shipping free.
