Last week I bought the scorpion AGM battery recommended by GSJack. A few questions...

Mine arrived dead as a door nail . I didn't put a voltmeter to it but there wasn't enough juice to turn the engine (slowly) more than a few seconds. Is this normal?

My bike has a battery tender installed that used to work OK on the old lead acid battery. Will this work on an AGM battery as well?

Battery tender JR should work on all types of batteries, including AGM.

I believe the batteries are shipped only partially charged.  It is routine to throw on charger like BT Jr. for overnight before using.  Did you "read the directions"?


If the battery is run down to below something like 10.5 volts, internal damage can happen, possible ruin the battery.

I'd throw it on the charger for about 16 hours. (the battery tender, not a fast charge car charger)

I checked out several web sites for AGM batteries.  They say that the batteries are fully charged when they leave the factory....but during storage they can loose some charge, and they recommend an overnight slow charge before using.

Some web sites say AGM batteries charge much faster than "regular" batteries, yet other websites say they take longer to charge!  Go figure!
