Hello everyone, I am new to the forum so bare with me. I have a 2001 GS, US bike if it matters, and recently tried to purchase a jet kit for it. I then was told that they don't make a kit for it since the carbs are different. I have bought a Jardine full exhaust system and a UNI filter to make it perform better, but the jet kit is the key to making the system work. I have read from this site and others possible jet combinations and "how to" mods to jet my bike. Any info would help. Are the new jets obtainable at a Suzuki dealership, or are they special items? I have some mechanical ability and feel confident about doing it, just lack the info. thanks

Michael

I have done the jetting on a 2001 (Australian model) and there is DEFINITELY a Factrypro kit available for it.  However, you can do it with jets from Suzuki.  I also have a Uni filter in the airbox and a full replacement system.  I am running 125 main jets but probably should go to 127.5.  I have 22.5 pilots with the screws at about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 turns out.  The only thing I really had trouble with was the needles.  The Factorypro needles gave better performance and were easier to tune than the stock ones.  Hope this helps.  :thumb:

thanks for the info, i will pick up those jets and give it a whirl. can you replace the needles seperatly or does it all come with the jet kit?

Michael

You can replace each of the components individually but it is often a bit of mucking about and expense to get it just right unless you really know what you're doing.  This is why the full jet kits are so good for numbskulls like me.  They come with the right jets to get it in the ballpark, then you just have to fiddle a bit for your local conditions.
