Just some background info here: I bought a 93 GS around 6 months ago, trying to get it running right. The idle goes crazy after a 10-15 mile sprint this only happens when in neutral or if the clutch is engaged. It tends to stay around 4k RPM. - I noticed this after i removed the front cog cover and cleaned it up.

I decided to clean the K&N air filter today and see what the carbs looked like, they have a label stating GSX500 07 I am assuming these are newer carbs from the original. I also noticed a few vacuum outlets that seem to be uncovered, I have no idea if these are right.. Pics below

Ok those are f model carbs on a 93 ...You have missing vacuum lines and the ones( the caps ) on there are all split up- big Vacuum leaks....makes the bike lean... which gives you that high idle.Fix the vacuum lines/plug them ( Am sure the F has more emissions stuff/extra vacuum lines to run around...)

I haven't fooled with putting newer style carbs on the older gs's..... Buddha?, anyone...? Cleaning the carbs properly wont hurt-but it's not going to be the whole fix.

When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

Torque is LBs-FT Damn it.
Yeah that was me.    One of my rides

Do the vacuum ports simply need to be covered? If so will tape work>?

If not should this lines connect somewhere?

Thanks guys!

NVM i found the covers at the auto parts store, also replacing the fuel line.. im just going to cap all the ports and see what happens..

FUBAR-

So in my infinite wisdom i ran the bike for a few seconds without the tank to test it with vacuum ports covered. I guess this clogged a jet or something because now with new 1/4 fuel line the bike will start after about an hour of sitting and then die and not restart... This is with or without the vacuum outlets covered. Also noticed the vent from the tank isn't connected anywhere.

I pulled the carbs off completely but might just ship them to buddah if he will look at them  >:(
