"Do I need to have this hose connected?"

Although I am not experiencing painful issues after rejetting and installing a lunchbox I do have issues that reduces my confidence for taking the GS on a cruise any more than say 25 miles one way. My current mission is to ensure "all" my hoses are properly re-attached or properly not attached.

First is the hose coming from the 2nd Air Connections (front left of bike having 2 hoses going to cylinders). I believe the large hose (Green Hose #8 in picture) moving to the back of the bike was connected to my OEM airbox. Since the upgrade I no longer have a connection point for it. When I have the bike running I can hear a large gasping noise and there is suction at the end of the hose. Do I cover it or is this hose "suppose" to be connected, and if it should be connected; Where? See Image:

The answer to this question depends on two things

1. Will your bike ever be inspected by the EPA (or relevant authorities) for conformity to emissions targets?
2. Do you care if your bike does not conform to emissions targets?

If the answer is NO for both, then just plug it up - the sucking noise you can hear is air being drawn into the Pulsed Air Injection System (PAIR) - drawing fresh air into the exhaust gas in an attempt to reduce any unburnt combustion gasses.

If the answer is YES for both, get yourself a little K&N rocker breather filter on it to keep the dust & crap out

Good to know it was not "required" to be connected. As for the questions, I don't have emissions standards but I wouldn't mind looking for the K&N breather.
