Hiii all,I have joined this place to learn how to conduct group rides with the hope that I can become a ride captain.
I love planning and being responsible,so hopefully I am on my way.

All the best.

Blabber,

Welcome. I suggest you go on a few group rides yourself to see how They conduct them. Also, read these posts of mine on group Riding...

Thanks Michael, all good stuff I'm sure.
I went on an organised ride last Sunday and found it bloody frustrating.
Three blokes got lost and we never saw them again.
Lunch at the pub was not the same with three missing ride members.

In Sunday's ride, there was a guy is who slow in the bends. He asked if he could go Tail End Charlie. I agreed and at the ride brief made Specific Mention "if you are corner marker, please stay where you are until you see Tail End Charlie, even if you see no bikes and may have to wit five minutes".

What happens? One of the corner markers leaves, they get to the other corner marker, realize they should have stayed and go back. In that tije they were gone the two previous corner markers went right on by. By the time the wayward marker got back, the tail guy came through. So at our stop, everyone had arrived bar two riders. They did find their own way back only because the road looped back to where they started, and one of them knew how to get to us from a different route.

No matter how complicated the route, as long as the corner markers Stay Put until they are signaled to leave, the ride will work.

Welcome blabber, good to see another rider willing to ride responsibly and safe on the road. It can only improve our image.

Trouble with this ride was-
The leader rode too slow,at least do the posted speed limit not 20 below.
A couple of blokes complained that I passed em on a corner
    - out braking some one before a corner is not on a corner
    - when some one runs wide at below the posted corner speed,it's impossible not to pass em if your hitting the apex.

I think next time I shall play Front end charlie.

And we stopped at a pub for lunch and the four schooners I had was deemed unsafe.
