SWEET-TL1000R

Well, Last night I finally picked up my 93 GS500E!!!

She got about 6,000 miles or so on her and needs a little TLC!!!

Once I got her home I noticed she'll need the following:
-Gas cap (does Vortex make one for the GS?)
-Need to either clean the carbs or get used ones (anyone have some for sale?)  The joker who owned the bike put JB Weld in a carb hole!!GRR
-A new chain, what stock size?
-Clean the rust out of the gas tank and get it back to new!

Other than that it looks like I can get her up and running with a lil TLC!  I can't wait!  Now I have two bikes to work on!!!!

Good for you!

The chain: 520, 110 links.

Careful with the tank rust, make sure there are no pinholes in the lower corners. Yup, Vortex makes a cap, it's the same cap used on all the other Suzuki sportbikes of the early 90's. Good luck!

i think it'll be so much cheaper if you just clean your carbs insted of buying used ones..

get some carb parts and take your carbs apart...change the main jets and put in a 40 pilot jets (this is a must)

have fun riding

I think I saw an aftermarket tank bag that includes a replacement gas cap assembly.  If you can't find the gas cap itself, then that may be available.  I think the best you will do is to find somebody here who replaced their dented tank with a junkyard tank, and used their old gas cap.  Of course, you'll probably have to figure-out how to get it unlocked and repinned then, unless it comes with keys (good luck!).

Yes yes this is worthless without pics!  But I left my digi camera in the limo the night I got engaged and haven't gotten it back yet.  Either way, she's in pieces getting cleaned up etc!

I'll be dropping the carbs off with a close friend in PA this weekend and will hopefully have everthing running nicely once I get the rust in the tank taken care of!  Once she's running and back together you'll get your pics! :nana:   :)

Cool!  Sounds like it won't be tough to get it running well :thumb:

I'm curious to hear your impressions on it.  I know its for your lady but I'm curious to hear what you think coming off your TLR

I am interested in a Vortex Cap as well, I went to their website and it lists a few different bikes, but I don't really know any early 90's models. Do you know which one it is that the GS is compatible with? Thanks
