Hello sirs, new here, just being my new-to-motorcycling self. Just picked up a 1994 GS500 a few weeks ago, loving riding it so far.

About myself:
I am 18 years of age from a little town in southern Nevada, been driving a hunk o junk dodge that's twice my age for awhile and was looking for somethin a bit more exciting and reliable :S

Jumped on this bike, she may be old but only 6k miles, never dropped, running fine, and just right for me, being slightly on the taller end of the spectrum and knowing I would kick myself if I were to buy a little buzzy Kawa ninja 250.

Plus the guy tossed in a $300 Icon helmet :D

She does need a few things:

-New Tires (I'm thinking BT45's)
-New mirrors
-New grips
-Baffling for the exhaust (PO was probably hated in his apartment complex haha) as well as some paint
-and a name

any questions feel free to ask, any advice feel free to give

thanks

Looks great! I love the styling of the older ones more than the new ones plug I really like the red. Mine had 17k and was still running strong so you've got a long way to go. It's suuuper clean too. Still has all the reflectors, uncut fender, and not a spot of rust on the frame. Must've been well taken care of. You'll have to check into your exhaust, the previous owner might've just drilled the stock one, you can probably find a replacement cheap though. I do have a pair of mirrors if you really need them, they're ugly, but from the looks of the picture not as ugly as that one you've got, haha. Either way I'll sell them CHEAP!

Give the helmet a good looking over too. I've always been overly paranoid about used helmets. Make sure there's no damage or anything like that. Have fun!

Ha...tt beat me to it...nice bike, other than the flaking paint on the stainless heat sheild...I agree, they do look good in red...as for the mirrors...I would go with bar ends, since you need new ones anyway...you will have a better view...I mostly see my arms...good for seeing how many bugs you take out, but you have to move your arm out of the way to see a vehicle directly behind you.

And hey...there is nothing wrong with the new ones...I like the post update bikes better myself...

And yes, the signal lens has been replaced and the tape is gone...don't drop your bike on concrete, plastic isn't very tough...oh yeah, welcome to the site...forum...whatever...

Later.

94?  That's not that old.  ;)  I picked up my first bike a few weeks back and its a 1990 with about 8000 miles more than yours.  Good luck.

SirNaK

Haha I am definitely looking for some less fugly mirrors, I believe the PO put the current ones on himself :S so let me know about those ones you are looking to sell. The helmet he threw in is practically brand new, I can't find any cracks or faults on it, plus it has a nifty mirrored visor.

but I wish my brother would let me use his Suomy gambler helmet  soo opulent.

I'm running dirtbike grips and bar ends and absolutely love it.

Super score there, and welcome to the GS.

Get something to cover that hole in the side cover of the right side engine. Used to be a suzuki logo there. I see a fenderectomy in your future.

I'll find a picture of the mirrors after I get home from work, but I'll also recommend bar end mirrors depending on what you're looking for. I've started using them on my bike and I love them. You can get a decent enough pair on ebay for $20 shipped.

Mirrored visors look cool, just be suuuper super careful with how you clean it and what touches it. They scratch super easy and you can see every little scratch when you're wearing it. I started using the dark tinted ones because I like my stuff low maintenance, but I do still think the mirrored ones look good.

right, madams  :embarrassed:

yeah, the guy was selling the bike because kids in his apartment complex stole one of the mirrors, the throttle grip, and the suzuki logo off of it, all the little crap haha

for sure agree to the fenderectomy

Thank you sir, your avatar is nice as well

do you by chance play DotA or Legion TD? (assuming you play WC3)

tykho

I used to play DotA all the time, I play HoN every now and again now. I tried to get into LoL, but I never really liked it in beta so I started playing HoN.
