NEW KEY?

Most of the decent sized locksmith shops around my town stock the right type blanks. They will cut a new key, including the cost for the blank for about $3. You like that particular style or something?

If you really like the Suzuki key, just go to your dealer. $10-$15 depending on the dealer. Why buy one for $16.22 plus postage when it is cheaper at your dealer?
Support your local dealer or soon you won't have a local dealer!
Add postage and the time you wait on inexpensive things like a key and it is so much easier to take a fun ride to your dealer.
Otherwise, as suggested, go to a locksmith. They have blanks and will guarantee it is cut right or they will re-do it.
I had bought a couple of those crappy ones off of ebay and they were poorly made. The grooves on each side of the key are opposite each other making that part of the key extremely thin if they happen to cut the grooves a little too deep - making it nearly impossible to cut the key without it breaking apart.
Locksmith for me or my local dealer.

My local zook dealer closed. Employees went to a new parts/service store.  They said the problem wasn't selling parts, they just couldn't move any motos. I still try to get most of my stuff from them though, unless there is a big difference in price like my summer jacket was $100 less online.

my local dealer is HUGE (6000 sq. ft. or bigger show room plus about 3500 sq. ft. shop space and another 2000 for offices and stuff.) the only non harley dealer around and they carry everything including HD. They won't be going out of business any time soon thats for sure.

I prefer the black plastic head of those keys with Suzuki on them. I am looking for something like that; the local dealer basically told me to check eBay, because its not 'worth their time to search for a correct fitting key for such an old bike' WTF is that?

I have never seen such horrible customer service from any dealership.

All GS500 key blanks are the same.
(I stick my 2009 key into the 1992 just for fun to see if it works.)
Suzuki dealer? Most keys are the same. Just walk to a new bike. If you key goes in - tell them to give you a blank for that bike.
And what's their beef about looking up the part number on the computer? That sounds like a dealer that SHOULD go out of business.

I know what you are saying about supporting your local dealer. I try to go into the Suzuki dealer for almost all my needs but everytime I ask for something, they don't have it, can't find it and just plain act like they could care less. Example, I wanted a tank protector in Suzuki blue and they said they had 4 different styles and colors to chose from none in which were Suzuki blue. So I went home and found it on-line and bought it at Solomotor sports. Same with the ZG double bubble. So then I go home, find it on-line and order exactly what I want. It's ashame because I do want to give my dealer a chance because they gave me a good deal on my bike, but after the 4-5 trips with no luck and poor customer service, I don't bother any longer.

I hear ya.

I switched dealer loyalties from where I bought my 2009 to a Suzuki only dealer. I wanted an adjustable brake lever. Where I bought Suzi, they were clueless. The other dealer went to their parts and pulled out the older adjustable lever. Said "Looks like it should fit. Try it and if it doesn't, bring it back". Anytime I need something, they try to find it no matter how strange my request. Some dealers deserve our support, and some should go out of business.
