At my boyfriend's urging, we rotated the handlebars of my pretty lady back, so they're closer and also farther below me. Only had 'em this way for two days, so I'm still getting adjusted, but I think I like it better (except that turning the handlebars all the way either turns on my turn signal or tries to start my engine). Any of you cats ever done this? Did ya like it, did ya change 'em back, etc?
You do what you do because that's what the harmony of the universe requires.

I had a set of drag/flat bars on mine for a few months. While the bike looked great, I found myself gripping the bars to hard due to me having to lean forward more so my hands got sore on longer rides. There were no issues of things hitting the tank when the bars were turned.

Ah haha, I did the same exact thing the other day. Re-adjusted my bars, tried to make a tight u-turn on a busy road and had to turn my bars to full lock to do it. The horn button kept hitting the bike and there wasn't anything to do but deal with it until I got turned around.

You definitely want to get the bars where you feel comfortable. There's no set position they need to be in. All of those controls are adjustable. If you loosen up the bolts on the back they might spin. If not they still have the little plastic nubs on them. All you have to do is pull them off, cut the nub off with an x-acto knife, and it'll let you readjust the controls to what's comfortable to you.
