I guess that's one of the reasons I'm still on my Ninja 250, it does pretty much what I need it to do. Basically commuting 30 miles to work (mostly rural 2-lane 55mph highways), sometimes having fun on the weekend (not often enough though). I wouldn't mind having a little more hp and electrical power, but what I've got is enough. Oh that, and it's cheap to maintain, insure, and fuel helps too. ;-)

The 9 was great, but the 12 not so much:

* the one I rode may have had a problem with the EFI ~ the 9 could go all the way down to 1500 rpm without so much as a hiccup but the 12 bucked and jerked in any gear below 2000rpm

Your riding a big V twin not an I4. They don't like to be ridden at low revs.

I was a motorcycle instructor for almost 15 yrs. I have ridden every street bike I could get my hands on over the past two decades - the XB12 was the only bike I can remember that did this. Ever.

All Buells front disc brake rotors are known to overheat and discolor.

The 1125 has a face only a mother could love, but is often cheaper than the XB models since HD unloaded them at fire sale prices when they dumped the brand.

I've never heard any problems with rotors over heating and discoloring. They can warp because they're so big, but there's only 1 so it's only half the price to replace anyway.

Long time acquaintance of a guy who (unfortunately for him) worked for a Harley/Buell dealership in Edmonton here. Said this was commonplace.

When I had mine I could ride around with a heated vest, chaps, and gloves and everything still worked great. No starting problems at all when it was cold.

I hated the Xb9R that I rode for 2 seasons...Its a culture shock being use to high rpm rice rockets and going to these trq. monsters. 0-60 is fun, thats about it, atleast on the 9r....If your set on a buell get the biggest one you can afford.
Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

Sorry, I thought you were one of these guys who jump on a big V twin and expect it to be as smooth and refined as an I4. They're definitely two different beasts.

I have a Ducati Monster 1000 that bucks and jerks if you ride it below 2000 rpm even at 3000 it is not happy. But that's ok it has a nice sounding engine so riding it around at higher revs doesn't bother me. Don't get me wrong, it is a very rideable bike once you know its likes and dislikes.

The surprise for me came when I jumped on a BMW Boxer. I was expecting something unbelievably smooth. It was certainly good for a twin, but not what I was used to coming off of an I4.

OTOH, if a Goldwing or a K1600GT isn't smooth as silk, I'm going to be surprised as hell.
