Unpainted handlebars, OEM or custom?

Hi guys,

My GS has a small scratch on the handlebars*, which came (and still are) painted black. I've got a list of parts I'm thinking about repainting in the winter (gas tank, maybe rear plastics and front fender) just as part of changing the colour scheme, but as far as the handlebars go, the part's cheap enough that I'm thinking about maybe just buying new ones instead of bothering with the work of repainting these ones.

I've seen GS's with unpainted handlebars, and kind of like the look of it, so I'm thinking I might go that route instead of sticking with black. But when I look in the parts list for my year and model (2007 GS500F) I can only find the handlebar listed as '56111-01DC0-ETN', with no colour uptions.

Are the unpainted bars I've seen custom jobs? Stripped the paint off a stock bar? Or is it the GS500/GS500E (naked) bar that comes this way? Or maybe just certain years? Anyhow... please advise on where I can find one.

Maybe if I'm lucky the scratch is just in the paint and I could strip the paint off my scratched black bar?

* I think maybe it's from another key on the keychain bouncing against the bar while riding? Is that enough to scratch the paint? It's in the exact right spot that a one particular key usually sits against the bar...

I don't know the answer to your question sorry.

Just wanted to say taking an old foam grip off of my MT. Bike and cut it down and is perfect fit right between. Saves your handle bars and have gotten a few compliments on it!
