Hey everyone just bought my first bike, a 2007 GS500. As you can see it's been modified a bit. I like the naked look but i'm not sure if it came that way. Did they make a naked bike in 07? Anyways I'd like to get different headlights, really looking into the dominator set. Or the dual hella driving lights. Would that be pretty simple considering my setup at the moment?

Also it seems like the dude took the passenger pegs off, would that be hard to replace?
Another thing; The bike doesn't have a "snappy" throttle, you turn the throttle and the revs are slow to go back down. It also is idling at about 3k revs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, this seems like and awesome community

If you just want to replace the OEM passenger pegs you should pay at most 45$, based on the prices I found on www.suzukipartshouse.com. Maybe less if you look on ebay or post a WTB in this forum - someone probably has spares.

Lovely looking bike though, loving the matte black. I'm planning on painting most of the same parts on my bike black this winter as well, so it'll probably look very similar to yours when it's done. I may also do the top of the triple tree, and possible the engine if I feel like taking it out to paint it. Really liking the look though - I hadn't seen a photo of GS with quite so much matte black before, this just confirms my thoughs about how good it would look and really makes me look forwards to painting it this winter.

What's the headlight? Maybe it's marked somewhere? Is it bright enough? I don't care for the blue lenses, but the shape and styling are awesome - if there's a version with white lenses I'd be all over that - running stock F headlight in the Drag Specialties bracket right now.

Only negative comment - c'mon, get a bottle of Goo-b-gone and a hairdryer and get rid of that white frame sticker. How many hours went into making that bike look as good as it does? You can afford 15 minutes to take off a sticker, and right now it kinda stands out and looks out of place. An easy thing to do that'll make it look nice and clean.

Congrats on the purchase, you have a beautiful bike - good luck figuring out your RPM sticking issue, I'm kinda new too and not a great mechanic yet. Sounds like a carb or throttle cable thing but someone else will definitely come along who knows way more than I do about that.

Big Rich

Search "hanging idle". You most likely have an air leak around the carbs.

Suzuki did make a naked 07 - but - not for sale in the USA. What YOU have is a 500F that has had the fairings removed. See what looks like a small radiator on the front of the frame in the above pic? That is an oil cooler. It is standard on faired bikes and is NOT present on naked bikes. So, either the fairings were removed cause the PO prefers naked - or - it was crashed and it is less expensive to remove the ruined fairings and put on a new headlight, new mirrors and new exhaust to hide what had happened.

Also, where the pillion pegs Would be the frame is actually triangular at that point. See where your exhaust bolts to the frame at the rear? There should be Another piece of tube steel going up at roughly the same angle, but heading toward the rear of the bike. Where they join is where the pillion peg Would have been. See this pic to see. The PO has removed part of the frame on your bike. Might pay to check to see where - look closely.

I think you'll find your right hand side bar end is not original either. Hard to see but it does not appear to match the left. The right hand engine cover looks a little odd in the pic as well. Right side down?

Besides the pillion pegs thing, the bike has also had the rear fender removed.

Did some research and it looks like the headlight is an Acerbis Blitz.

Sadly, they no longer seem to be available - disappointing since I really like the look of it. Curious how bright it is.

On the off chance anyone has one of these headlights laying around (with white lenses, though) and wants to get rid of it, I'd be in the market.

Twisted

To mount Dominator twin headlights you will need to get yourself the stock Suzuki OEM or aftermarket 7" headlight bracket.

And agree with mister. The bike is a F model with the fairings removed. One of the levers has been replaced so I would think the bike has been down.

scratch

Passenger pegs are going to be difficult to replace as it looks like the previous owner has hacked off the mounts for them.  You would need an entire new subframe with the mounts.

Somewhere there is a thread where people removed the passenger pegs then bolted on the mount and pegs from a GSXR or some other model. There is a WIKI on it so that might be your best option to get passenger pegs back on http://www.gstwin.com/sv_rear_pegs.htm

Left side emblem looks OK and right one as mentioned, looks damaged. Looks like right handlebar is bent, too. Probably went down on the right side. Can't see which lever was replaced - the clutch looks bent and the brake was not an adjustable lever (they stopped putting those on but you can get one) so which is replaced?

mister

I've had a closer look at my brake and clutch levers and they are different just as pictured. So unless the dealer dropped the bike and did a swapsee then the slight different in shininess and front/back thickness etc., is standard.

Thank you everyone for replying.
I unfortunately found out those head lights suuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkk. Does not illuminate the road at all. So i'm hoping to switch soon. Is the dominator set brighter than stock?
