My girlfriend misplaced my GS gas tank key along with some other important keys.  I've read that the tank can be modified to open with a screw driver.  What is the best way to do this and can it be done with the cap locked on?  Do you just chisel away at lock?  This bike is now track only, so I just need something that will work.

Fixed it with a hammer, screw driver and pick.  Took maybe three minutes.

Now you can use the universal key

Get a screw on gas cap and you won't have to worry about it any more.
