Two days of riding a 250 two-stroke dirt bike while my GS's front tire was getting attention was both fun and painful.  Anything over 45 (and 45 ain't exactly comfy, either!) was unbearable for more than a few minutes, and for enduring all that hand and arse vibration I got 43mpg in return.  Good to have the GS back.  I have a new appreciation for it!  :thumb:

I guess only a dirt bike could make a GS seem comfortable  :icon_lol:

Is that even enough airflow to cool our bikes?

no. not at all. the oil cap was heat seized to the engine case. had to let it cool off once we got there. crack open case with pliers i carry in bag. and add a quart of oil. really no apparent damage. but not somethign id want to subject my bike to repeatedly

i was the lone gs in a sea of harleys in this pic captured by local news. wearing the backpack. was a few liquid cooled bikes too. honestly they fared slightly worse. one harley pulled off to cool itself. normally id break formation for a few secs to go into some airflow, was coming back in from such maneuver

* crack open cap. not case

I went on a toy run last year that laster over a hour and we did maybe 30 mph at times. I got warm but not too terrible. My buddies gixxer 1000 was flashing at him for high temp halfway in.
