So I just installed a new Vance & Hines system (among other things) and when I started it up for the first time, there was a lot of smoke coming off the headers. Like directly OFF the pipes (not OUT of the pipes). It's pretty nasty smoke too. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping it's just cause they're new. Thanks!

I have no experience on bikes. But this is normal for chemicals to burn off on a new car exhaust....

pretty sure its ok

Did you rejet appropriately for this pipe?

I did, and I can't believe it would have anything to do with jetting. Again, it's coming OFF the header pipes, not OUT of the can or anything

Pretty sure this is normal for new exhaust.  It needs to 'cook in'. Give it maybe fifty miles?

Something that young should not be smoking. Its a filthy antisocial habit.

It's just the (cheap) paint burning off. I used to repaint mine every year, and it would smoke for the first couple miles.

It's the coating burning off.In a year or two, they will need to be pulled off and repainted. It's normal for all painted/coated headers to do that.
PICS are GONE never TO return.
