So I just did an oil change on my GS.  Got all the bolts tightened, added oil and then went around and check bolts again B4 starting the bike and decided to tighten the 3 bolts holding the filter on again for some stupid f%$king reason..and busted one of them.

QuoteClose all the bolts and the drain plug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN since the bolts are prone to breaking, and close each nut a little at a time until tight.

anyways just ordered a new bolt/stud because  I don't feel like taking the stud out of the bolt with needle-nose.  long story short I was bringing the GS back in the garage and it slipped out of my hands and the right mirror put a nice 12 in gouge in rear quarter panel of my car. SWEET good thing they're all made with plastic nowa-days

sorry for the rant :(

note to self wash oil off hands before moving bike  >:(

sorry to hear about that, was the bike okay too? Depending on how nice the car was the spray paint they have at autozone can be matched pretty well and clearing over it would make it close to invisible, and your rear quarter panel should be steel or aluminum... so some sort of covering is needed to prevent oxidation/rust
2004 GS500F (Sold)
2001 GS500 (being torn apart)
1992 GS500E (being rebuilt)

Thats funny, that exactly what I said out-loud when the bike slipped out of my hands. WASH HANDS BEFORE MOVING BIKE!! lol

Nothing wrong with the bike, didn't drop all the way down to the ground, but oh well. I think im going to order some Napoleon style bar ends anyways even if the mirror is bent. Sucks I just ordered the pair off ebay for $40 :(
