Srinath....I have a worst problem. I put the carb back on and the bike, it started and idled for a while with a lot of smoke as you predicted and told me. Then it died and would start but would not idle. I had to keep it running with the throttle.

This worked for a while, but it would shut off if I let the throttle off. I try adjusting the idle switch beneath the carbs, replace the K&n pods with the stock setup but the bike would not start again so I got fed up with it. Took it to the moto shop.

They finally told me after a slight examination that they could start the bike but it would not idle and that I had gas leaking out of the carbs into the air filter.
They think the carb is clogged somewhere and the culprit for sure they said is the rusty gas tank. They said the inside of the tank is really rusty.

But they won;t give the exact answer and estimate until later this week when they fully examine it.

I'm so tiicked off...I wanted to ride the bike last week and this week so much since the weather has been really nice here.

OK I told you to put in a filter between tank and carbs. Your carbs had rust powder in it... not too bad but when you drain the gas from the carbs the rust will go with it. So I might only see a little when there is a lot more. But I could tell it had rust due to the rust coloring the insides had. Anyway... dont let them swap jets around or put a kit in it.
Cool.

After cleaning 'em up a little, no problem! I enjoy tracing the passageways and having the sound of mind knowing they are clean and flowing! :)  Thank you! They work great!
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

OK send me the carbs and the tank... I;ll coat the tank and clean the crabs and send back.
And Scratch Glad it worked. It was the last of the carbs left over from the Great Jared carb hunt 2 years ago. I might as well call myself... carb rescue... where we find hurt carbs and nurse them back to health and release them back into the bikes.
Cool.

Thanks Srinath....you are extremely generous. Let me hear what they have to say and the estimate..if it is an ouragous clain and amount $ to fix then I'll just send you the tank and carbs again. I'm so frustrated. I did put an inline filter in. I was really over cautious doing this installing  two new inline filter from the gas tank to petcock and another one to the carbs. But still the bike did not idle.

If I do send you the carbs and tank this time..can you do me a favor and install it on your bike and start it up to make sure everything runs ok. If necessary I'll send the filter with it too.

Thanks Srinath

Somehting is not right... ok where is the dile screw set... it is even open a little or closed all the way, throttle binding, choke cable sticking etc could all be a factor... I suspect the dile screw... unless the filter is clompletely clogged up... I set the idle screw to near full closed cos that is how I synched the carbs.
Cool.

I didn't even adjust the idle screw at first. The bike idle really high and then it didn't idle at all. Then I notice that the filter was soaked with gas so I didn't touch it for a day and try to start it the next day. It once again started but wouldn't idle and adjusting the choke helped a little but there was ridiculous delay in time it was adjusted and engine response and it would only idle at really high RPM's. Then I lower the choke to off, kept the bike idling with the throttle and started adjusting the idle screw. It didn't help. Then the bike wouldn't start again. I think the filter was once again soaked. So I take it the carbs clogged or something is wrong making the carbs spit out a lot of fuel.

The Buddha

I meant the fuel filter getting clogged... not air filter. If it was clogged you have rust in the crabs clogging up somehting. Else you dont.
Cool.
