Cicada Noise on Braking

I seriously thought I was hearing insects all the time until I realized it was coming from the bike.  Pulled in the clutch and coasted to verify it wasn't an engine thing, hit the brakes and I hear cicadas, let go nothing.  Once I get to a certain speed, the noise is constant whether or not I'm braking.

It sounds almost like it could be an electrical noise?  The only thing I've done recently is replace the brake switch for the front.  Could it be faulty?  I mean everything works, I'm just getting this noise.

Good day to you!

Is it only on the rear brake? If so you are one of the lucky ones who got the optional squeaky rear brake on their GS  :thumb:

I love that feature on my bike. Turning heads at each stop light.  :thumb:

Its likely that's its the common complaint already mentioned ... just make sure your pads have plenty of friction material left ... metal on metal is a bad thing.

FYI about the head turning squeal; I bought copper based grease from a brake place, coated the BACK of the rear pads THINLY, just a smear, and no more squeak/squeal for about 4000km now.  If you choose to do this be careful, you must not get grease on the friction material or the disk itself.

I'm aware of the rear brake squeak, it's not that.  It's coming from the front end, starboard side.  Since I have to be riding to hear it it's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from...it could be the brake, or it could be the brake switch.
Good day to you!

Are your front pads lined up correctly? That is, an ever so slight smaller gap at the exit end of the pad - if you can understand what I am saying.

For example, if these were you pads \ / the direction of rotor travel would be top to bottom.

Is it like a buzzing when you hit the front brake at speed? If so I have it too, as do many others. As far as I can tell there isnt anything wrong and my bike stops great. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yup, I got the optional squeaky rear brake as well.....

The sound is normal. My race bike makes it. My street bike makes it. Ignore it.

Pads are new (ish) and I'm not detecting any performance issues.  The only thing that bothers me is the noise becomes constant past a certain speed, whether or not I'm braking (indicating to me that something might be off).
Good day to you!
