Need some help riding home the other day the bike didn't want to rev through the range and it was jumpy, I thought it was the engine I pulled the clutch in and gave it a rev and it revved out to 10k no worries. But when I let the clutch out again it didn't want to rev out and was real jumpy and gave out occasional surge of power. I started feathering my clutch and it let out one big surge of power and it came good, whole thing lasted bout 5 min, had the same problem last monday on a ride but i pulled over for a while an when i got going again it was fine. I consulted my hanes which didn't tell much I checked my clutch cable freeplay and movement so before I go taking things off here there and everywhere I thought I would ask n see if this is common. I'm leaning toward my clutch being at fault. Cheers.

Run the front wheel hard up against a wall, pick 1st gear give it some revs and let the clutch out slowly.....if the clutch is slipping it will be obvious.

Sounds like my bike when it is running low on fuel and have to switch it to reserve.

Cheers will do, tank is full of the jungle juice I'm thinking it might be pulling crap through the carbs.

How old is the cable? My GR was slipping regardless of gear but after 6500 rpm's. Couple days later the cable snapped.

I'm assuming it's the original cable it's an 03.

Hey everyone just took the bike for a good thrash and it didnt happen again and i really wound her out too, I took her to a mates place and figured out it must be the clutch cable and the actuating mechanisim, and possibly crap in the fuel, so ill be giving the clutch parts a good spray of CRC, and buying a small in line filter. Quick question this wont starve the engine too much will it? Anyone have any expierence?

Just make sure the filter has a big enough opening to allow fuel to flow through.I think minimum inside diameter for a fuel filter is 5mm for our bikes.I am going on what I recall from talking to a local bike builder.If you have a bike shop around,tell them that the filter is for a bike without a fuel pump or the carbs are gravity feed.
