Newbie...now you know.

I'm a proud owner of a GS500e 2000. I like to get my hands dirty and learn hands on so I purchased a Clymer maintenace/repair book through the link in this site. I'm a little puzzled that this book does not even show how to do an oil change, that had me thinking, if that's missing did they skimp out on other information :dunno: .

I noticed that there's a Haynes manual available also and I wanted to know if Haynes book does include the oil change information or not.

What would you recommend one over the other to a newbie?

So who wins Haynes Vs. Clymer.
Haynes ISBN 1859609856
Clymer ISBN 0892878339

My Clymer shows it, page 66, in Chapter 3(Lubrication, Maintenance and Tune-up).  A bunch of good pictures and everything.

I guess yours is defective :nana:

Ummm, I have a Haynes manual and it works I guess... Haven't run into any problems with it, other than the book disintergrating on me.  My brother has on old Haynes manual for his Accord that's beat up, folded in half, and stuffed in the glovebox, and his isn't falling apart at the binding!  :x Crappy British manufacturing strikes again! hehe :)

I've never seen a Clymer... I've also got the Suzuki service manual for some bits of info I don't get from the manual.  Who knows?  :dunno:

I have both, but I haven't really looked over them yet.

The best comparison I've heard yet was by Kerry, and can be found on this thread:  http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6735&highlight=haynes

Great news! I just saved a bundle on car insurance by switching to a motorcycle!

I have a buynch of clymers for my other bikes... the Gs I have the factory... the pics in the clymers are bad compared to the factory ones, however I believe Haynes has better pics and it also is a more wordy manual... makes for good bedside reading. The factory manual is very very terse.
Cool.
