I wonder if gloves being too tight can cause this?

Um... yeah... like I wrote...

You can always try new gloves with more padding, better grips (stock suck) and heavier bar ends.

Careful with gloves with extra padding. As you curl your hand around the grip the padding compresses into your hand and Can have a slight restrictive pressure on your skin. This slight pressure and subsequent reduced blood flow can give you numbness. So if you go extra padding you may need to go Up in size to compensate.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I've been riding with wrists bent down a bit to avoid unintentional throttle pull, but I guess that's not as much of an issue with highway riding. I'll try riding with wrists straight and see if that prevents the numbness.

I did read your post, I only meant that the finger length being too short can have a similar effect to your point about padding. My gloves don't have padding, but the fingers are a bit short for me so that they cut off circulation when I make a fist, causing them to tighten more.

Do any of you get a pins an needles feeling in your hands after riding for say, an hour on the highway? I have an '09 GS500F with bar risers and Grip Puppies. Otherwise stock. After an hour on the highway riding from 60-80 or so, my hands feel the same as I've been using a pressure washer. Not necessarily numb, just have a vibey, slight pins and needles feeling in them.  It goes away after 20 min or so.  Is this just me getting used to the bike on the highway (have 1600 mi on it), or is something wrong?  I'm pretty conscious of not having a death grip and move my left hand a lot. Wondering if it's just me?

I just rode my bike today at 60-80 for a little over an hour coming home from Allegany State Park.  When I got off it felt like I just got on.  I don't have bar ends and I have plain rubber grips.  I get pins and needles in the hands on long dirt bike rides but not with this thing.  Oh, but wait, I just remembered.  I took off my 16-tooth front sprocket and put a 17-toother on.  Do the same and watch the vibes disappear!  :thumb:  I hated this bike on the highway soon after I bought it.  Sprocket change made a WORLD of difference.  It sounds very much like you ride like me.  If so, try it, you'll like it!

In fact, I'll make a deal with you.  If you like to ride on the highway at 60+ and you invest the $15 it costs for a new front sprocket, if you don't love it, I'll buy the sprocket from you and I will pay for shipping.  I will personally refund all your money.  That's how sure I am about this.
