There should be plenty of Sydney based riders. I think they're all hibernating.  :dunno_black:

Unsane

Yes I was hibernating. Its f&$king cold here now so we are all underground asleep in our caves!

Hey mate welcome to the forum - I ride a few weekends every month with my friends and you are more than welcome to join us. We usually hit the Old Road, Bells Line, National Park, Putty Rd etc. Standard fair for riders in Sydney (always plenty of squids and police to watch out for) but they are still great roads to ride and getting to each one will be a great way to learn your way around Sydney.

Having been thinking about heading further south past the Gong Matt - what is down there?

I just saw your other posts about modding the exhaust and jets on bike Ourea - you can take mine for a hit and see what you think before you spend your $$$. Massive performance gains and the word GS500 should not really be used in the same sentence but the pipe, K&N and jets on mine give it a little bit more sparkle.

You should be able to do them mods for well under $1000.

Unsane

Slip On = $350 (from eBay)
K&N Lunchbox = $50 (from eBay)
Jets = $60 (from some kart shop in South Australia)
Labour = can't tell you I did mine myself but it only took an hour or two

I'm from sydney too, and yeah. Cave. I'd say I'll go for a ride with y'all, but I cant see myself ever having the time.

Incidentally, regarding exhausts... I managed to get a V&H full system on ebay for $450 inc postage from the US a couple of months ago, plus $25 for buddha's jets and I'm laughing. Except for the fact I havent been able to do the rejet yet =/

Buster2001

speaking of exhausts, I saw a yoshi trs exhaust for $400 from slipstreamperformance.com.au https://www.slipstreamperformance.com.au/store/product_info.php?products_id=29815

You can search for just gs500 products - mostly maintenance stuff, but good service.

As Unsane said anything to the north, south or west is a good place to ride.

Have you Heard the different exhausts you can get?

Twisted has the Scream'n Demon and it quite like the sound of it. Not too loud (like a baffleless exhaust) nor too quiet.

I have never heard of Twisted?  But then again I have never been riding with a baffle-less exhaust either lol.

Twisted is the Aussie here, not a brand  :icon_mrgreen:  :thumb: :thumb:

Twisted has a SD on his bike and it sounds good. Sorry for the confusion.

The SD pipes are cheaper than the IXILS. I think you are paying for the name. There is a cheaper exhaust selling on eBay at the moment that looks good quality -

For $230 it would be well worth considering. In my travels you can spend a lot or not on an exhaust for the GS but in the end they all sound pretty similar no matter what brand it is.

That is the one I have on mine in black -

You may have to modify the rubber stop that your centre stand sits against as on mine it was shorter than the one on the stock exhaust and made the centre stand run to close to the chain when folded up ad riding the bike. I had to put some extra rubber stops on to hold the stand down further. You will see what I mean when you install it if you don't know what I am talking about now.

I had the same issue with my Screamin Demon and came up with the same solution as Tw!$t3d
