No bids because they're asking for 6 bills for a bike with potential engine issues, crash damage, and no title. I wonder why they are having difficulties?

I'm thinking it is the Aussie pricing that is shocking to most people...your pricing is even higher than Canadian pricing...I picked mine up for $7200 taxes in and it had under 15000kms, no damage...almost to 20,000kms now though... :icon_mrgreen:

I'd think about that one if I were heading there...although I might look at more of an adventure touring bike...no limits that way...

haha buy it, you could just start an MT01 collection. Didn't you say your wife wanted one just to park in the livingroom for a decoration??

madjak30

Shipping would cost me as much as the bike purchase...besides, who wants a bike collection of the same bike...

I would rather have a selection of bikes that get ridden, no trailer queens here... :nono:

An adventure bike, a touring bike, a sport bike...I already have the muscle bike... :icon_mrgreen: ...maybe a scooter for wifey... :thumb:

Livingroom decoration can be a nice pic of the bikes framed... ;)

I have to admit that is a nice looking bike, but just like madjak the shipping to here would be killer, plus since they don't sell that model in the US I'd have to jump through a bunch of hoops if I ever wanted to register and ride it.

SOP in Australia for auctions is: clear title comes upon purchase, nothing registered Unless you are a licensed dealer.

$6k for the year model is Cheap. You cannot compare Aust prices to US prices - for example, GS500s are currently the cheapest they have been in many years and a brand new one can be bought for $6,990 - yes, almost Double the US prices. MT01 of 2008 year are selling for substantially more than $6k, for instance here are the 15 MT01 currently available in the country http://tinyurl.com/62k7o68 and there is one 08 model listed on ebay for $14,990 which is closer to what they Ask for them around these parts.

I feel the Damage is the biggest thing here - and - that MT01 shoppers do not visit this website for bike bargains. In reality, most finance company auctions are NOT advertised cause they do NOT want to sell the bike for much money. This way, you still owe them heaps. They work like this...

You buy bike for $10k finance
Besides your insurance Fin Co takes out insurance.
You crash and owe them $10k
Fin Co receievd Their insurance payout of $10 but YOU still owe them.
They send the bike to Auction - only those who know when/where attend as auction is NOT advertised.
Someone picks up bike for $300 - leaving you with a debt of $9,700
Fin Co issues you with Credit Card with $9,700 owing on it at 26% or more.

Fin Co received $10k from their insurance + $300 from Auction plus also have you on the hook for $9,700 at 26% interest. GE, AGC, Avco, Esanda, etc., all work the same way.

It's a bit of a gamble when you don't take out a collision policy on your bike...I paid cash, no finance company involved... :thumb:

As for pricing on the bikes...here in Alberta, Canada...the last new GS500F that I saw in the dealer had an MSRP of $7499, but it sold with some incentives put on it...not sure what the final sale price was, but I'm sure it was around the $6000 mark...our American friends don't know how good they have it...cheap purchase prices, cheap insurance & cheap gas...
