So I've always rode with the Arai Profile. I really want to get a Shoei but I've had problems in the past with other helmets giving me headaches. Can you guys give me your thoughts on if the Shoei will give me headaches. Please link me to the models you like. I know I want Matte black.

Thank you

The only way you'll know is if you go and try some on.

The problem is I get the headache after a ride. I don't think theyll let me cruise with on  for a while. Feels great when I try it on in the store. The HJC did too but I recall it was much more snug on the cheeks and temples when tried on. Also I had a M HJC my Arai is a large. The HJC was snug in M but not awful til I rode with it. The HJC L was too big whr I tried it on. So do you think since the Shoei feels the same as my Arai in L when I try it on that it will be ok? Also will you list some of the best Shoie's for me I am not familiar with the models and their differences.

Thanks

I wear the HJC CL-Max. It's comfortable and no headaches. My next helmet will be either the Vega Summit 3 or Shoei Multitec. The Multitec is very comfortable and the Summit 3 is also comfortable but lighter. As you see, I prefer modular.

I suggest you go to a local motorcycle shop & try on a few.

I'm pretty partial to the Shoei Qwest. It feels identical to my Arai profile in the store. Like I said though the ache comes after riding for an hour or more trying them on isnt a for sure thing. My uncle had an Arai Profile so I was able to ride with it that's how I learned it fit well. I think the Shoei should be on. The Hjc only fit in M and was just to snug.

What are thoughts on Icon helmets. I just need a second helmet for when I some mine after riding and want to go back out. I also like the idea of having two if someone needs a ride. I bought gear before my bike I won't allow anyone to ride without gear. I have many jackets and pants so I am fine there. I knew a moron who got a Zx6 Kawi first bike. Picked up his gf and popped the clutch into a wheelie and ate it. The girls face was ripped off literally. I do not want that on my conscience.

Are you getting the right helmet for the shape of your head? For example, you don't want to get a narrow helmet for a round wide head. It'll push in the wrong places and give a splitting head ache.

Here's a couple of helmet faqs:

and recommended helmets for your head shape:

The most common Shoei is the XR1100 or RF1100 if you are in the US. Shoe are on par in quality with the Arais. I have one of the older RF1000s in matt black and love the helmet. Very comfortable. I noticed when I tried one of the newer 1100s though it fit tighter around the cheeks.

If you like the Arais why not get another one of them?

I've got an Rjays dominator it's got a piece under the chin that stops the updraft and another piece that goes up over the bridge of your nose, I notice the arai's and shoei's don't have this. I was wondering if this is a problem with those helmets or how do they deal with them?
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Because I can get a killer deal on the Shoei and it seems to fit great in the store. I have a somewhat narrow head that is why the profile worked so well. But I think in the past I was getting helmets that were too small.

Had the same problem with a SparX helmet. Went with a scorpion and haven't had a problem yet.

Different Arai helmets are designed for different head shapes. Perhaps you can stick with Arai but try a different model.

I appreciate all of your input but please read what I have posted. I own an Arai Profile because it fits my head. I know about their head shapes. I love the helmet. I want to get a Shoei Qwest in Matte Black. I am just asking if you guys think that the reason my HJC gave me headaches was because it was a M and I am a L. The guy who sold it to me said I was a M and I was a newbie so I got it. After the headaches I looked into Arai and the head shapes and chose the profile for me oval head.

Do you think the Qwest will work for me in a L. I am pretty sure the HJc just was too small.

Thanks for all you your help gentleman and ladies. Please answer the question about the Shoei. I am well aware of the different head shapes made by Arai. I want a second helmet  and would like to get the Shoei because I can get a great deal on it and I love the look. I tried it on and left it on for about 15 minutes and felt no aches at all. So do you think I am good to go getting the Qwest.

Thanks again
