Where is the cheapest place to get them from?

Does anyone have some that they don't need?

I ahve a1989 gs500e, are all year brake lines interchangeable?

The Buddha

89 will take any year's line, all the later years are ~2 inches longer. So 89 lines wont fit other years.
Cool.

HEL brakelines is one source... least expensive I've found.
1990 GS500E: .80 kg/mm springs, '02 Katana 600 rear shock, HEL front line, '02 CBR1000R rectifier, Buddha re-jet, ignition cover, fork brace: SOLD

there you go. i searched for a while and settled on the hel's like others have. ~100 usd (front and rear).

you can also go the ebay generic route but i tried to contact some of those guys and received no responses, so that didn't happen.

there's also the make your stuff from the online retailers like (the screw on banjos) but the extra joint is a hassle plus it's roughly the same cost.

btw i did this a couple hundred miles ago along with some synthetic brake fluid and its great. effortless braking. the brake lever feels like it's hitting a wall. i even changed my car's lines lol.

I've had very good luck assembling my own using fittings from Earl's.  $40 a line.

Those look like a too good to be true thing.  I'd imagine a lower quality stainless??  Try it man!

You think so? I'm kind of hesitant but I would like to try it. Says its tested to 3000psi....

OK there aint no such thang as "poorer quality stainless braided line" - cos believe it or not, gs500 or even motorcycles are not the biggest users of SS braided lines, its aircraft. Followed by possibly other machinery and then possibly automotive replacement, then ironically factory bikes, like my MZ, almost all european and wasn't buell and polaris fitted with SS lines @ the factory ?

So I'd guess the $35 line and the $40 like are not that different except in trim and pretty up parts ... like clear vinyl coated vs black vinyl coated vs plain etc.
OH yea the swaged lines are IMHO not that good compared to the bolted lines, and I like earl but I really really prefer Galfer fittings, and I also like galfer lines, however those need to be cut to length and assembled ... not ready made bolt and run.
