Hey all, I was wondering if anybody here has bar end mirrors on their GS, and if so what type would you recommend? For reference I have an 89 with the year-specific clip-ons.

I own a 96 GS and would also like to know what people are running for bar ends.

I've had 3 different types of bar end mirrors:

1) The square-ish shaped ones from ebay. Bigger and more versatile since the mounts swivel.
2) The cheap 3" round ones on ebay for about $17 shipped. They suck. Stripped threads, glass fell out, mounting inside the bar never tight, etc.
3) Some 2" round convex mirrors from CRG. Pretty tiny but once you have them set, they are locked in. They are pricy as heck, but for good reason.

Im running the cheap ebay ones and, well, you get what you pay for. They perform their function well and used to look good but now they are oxidizing a little even though they were painted.

One thing you want to watch out for is that the screws that hold the mirror onto the arm are screwed in from the back of the mirror housing. On mine the screws go in underneath the mirror, so if they were to get loose like mine did, you have to heat the housing so the glue gets soft and pull the mirror to get to the screws. You will see what i mean.

Thats what I had. You can see what i mean about the screws coming through the mirror housing and screwing into the arm.

I put the ebay ones on my bike a couple hundred miles ago, I got them for around $10 shipped from china.  I used them as the clamp on style, and the clamps work fine if adjusted properly.  One mirror vibrated bad at first because the screws were loose as stated above.  I just loaded them up with super glue on the back and they have been great since, and if they break just spend another $10 on another set.  You can buy 16 sets of these for the price of a set of CRG's!

I too just bought the eBay cheap ones. I only want to run a left mirror so ill keep the right as a backup. I figure once they break Ill just get a nice CRG mirror since I only need one.

have been looking into some square ones for better visibility, but i'm not sure how they'd look on the GS

I just got the cheap eBay ones. Well, when you pay for cheap products from hong kong you get what you pay for. Quality is on par for $10 product and the internal expanders needed a little fiddling with to work but I got it to work. They don't look bad either.

Both look good. What's that flyscreen from, a Buell?
