I rode it once after I bought it before I started taking it apart.   :2guns:

I had half a day off today, so I dug the bike out of the shed to get some better pics of the exhaust.  While I had it out I rigged up a small temp gas tank so I could try and fire it up.  I am gettting spark but don't think I am getting sufficent fuel supply.  I poured a little gas directly into the cylinders and it fired.  I need to remove the carbs and clean them and adjust the float levels.  Just from the two seconds that it ran, I think the exhaust is going to sound awesome!!  Hopefully we will have the shed expansion done soon so I have a proper work space!

On to the pictures.

I was really thinking about modding my bike this winter, and I really got inspired by you!...Hope you get it runnin' this summer! It's gonna sound and look like a beast!

not a big fan of the exhaust look, but loving the purr of it!

let me know if you don't end up using that m800 hugger!

I really like the front fender.  I'm a fan of big front fenders.  I was thinking of doing a 600rr exhaust on the bottom like yours but seeing yours I think it'll be too big.  Looks great though and can't wait to see it finished!

It sounds even better in person!

I'll be using the hugger, just haven't got around to painting and installing.

I had to have the header shortened on the bottom by 4 inches to make it fit.

What kind of turn signals are those and where did you get them? I was looking for ones to do the same thing.

Some el cheapo no name brand I found on ebay a long time ago.  I am debating if I am going to use them or not.  I think I may want something more visable.

Charlie, your build is spectacular. Just wanted to put that out there.

Great work mate, she will be very nice to ride once you're done!

Mine has similar mods (see my thread here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57386.0 ) but it was done with a direction towards a sport-tourer rather than a naked cafe-racer. Love your concept. With the new front forks and brakes you will feel a massive difference over stock. Which brake/forks did you go with?

Also, have you thought of getting a 'coffin' style tank? That would look really nice IMO  :thumb:

Routed all the fuel lines tonight, but now it's not getting gas.  I think I need to change the position of the petcock.  Checked ben2go's thread since his seems to be working well and will try mounting mine like this.

ben2go

I have had no issues with any of the 04-07 Honda CRF250X installs. All are like the one in my pic above.Have you checked your tank petcock to be sure it's assembled properly? When the tank petcock is on,the grove should be vertical(up & down),and the open end of the groove should face down.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

cosmiccharlie

The tank petcock is functioning as it should.  I rotated my crf petcock the way you have yours mounted.  I ran out of fuel tubing long enough to hook up the tank.  Here is how it looks now.  The line from the frame petcock to the carb is almost flat.  Think this will work?  Gonna pick up some more fuel line tommorrow and try to find a smaller diamater filter.

ben2go

That routing shouldn't be an issue. My fuel line actually drops down a little and then back up to the carbs.I've never had problems with air lock, except when I had a dirty fuel cap vent.

When it was all hooked up the filter never filled up, but when I pulled the line from the filter gas flowed out freely.  I guess i need to "prime" (for lack of better words) the system.  Get fuel through the filter before i plug the line into the carbs.

Tried the autoparts stores today for fuel line, but the O.D. on the lines they carry are all to large.  I don't think I could get two lines that size on the tank petcock.  I am going to try the bike shops tomorrow, but I may just have to order some more.
