Also, instead of 1 down and 5 up, is it possible to make it one up, five down. I think it'd feel more natural to me, its alwat I thought it was my whole life until I actually learned how to ride a scoot...

I haven't done this mod.I believe you can reverse the shift pattern by flipping the lever that mounts the the shift shaft and shorten the lever.Then I believe you will need a longer rod between the shift lever and pedal.I think dgyver did this on his track bike.I think the reverse shift pattern is referred to as GP shifting.
