Hello,

I bent my clutch lever a while back and didn't think nothing of it until a screw in my back-tire blew it out while riding and I almost went down because I couldn't grab my clutch lever fast enough. A mechanic back in the day was kind enough to grab a front brake lever off a ruined GSXR which is adjustable comparable to the OEM part.

So...any suggestions on clutch levers for a GS500 that are better than the OEM part? Like one that isn't far spaced from bar?

Search - there are LOTS of threads on this. You'll find quite a few compatible brake levers.
There are no compatible after market really cool adjustable clutch levers except for LSL and you have to buy that from Germany. (I know - I searched - I bought - I LOVE them but at $125 each and shipping...... well..... )

The perch us unique to the GS500 with the odd angle.

Buy an aftermarket OEM style lever - remembering that the switch slot is deeper for newer bikes with the single unit switch as opposed to older bikes with a switch made up of lots of tiny parts. (If you get a shallow slot, a dremel can make it deeper IF you have a newer bike.)

ALWAYS remove the switch before the lever or you WILL break the switch - whichever type it is.

You don't say what year your bike is so we don't know what your switch is. Seems you have posts saying you have an '08 which means you need the deeper slot for the switch. OEM levers at a dealer are only about $20 or less.

Some people replace the perch in order to get a better style adjustable lever. You will read that, too, as you search the threads on clutch levers. Often when replacing the perch you need a custom cable to clear the instruments. I did that on one bike using a Honda F4 perch, ASV lever and custom cable with a 90 degree angle instead of the 45 degree bend off of the perch.
