attempting to get a key cut for the parts bike. successfully got the seat lock off after wrestling the seat and side fairing for a minute. dropped the lock and a few blanks off with a local locksmith. with a little luck, hoping to get one that'll get in the tank and ignition.

if not i'll either be trailer'in her up and taking her to the locksmith or finding another way to check the engine :dunno_black:

Ordered a Honda CRF250x fuel tap, 3meters of rubber 5/16" fuel line, and 10x (15mm OD) fuel hose clips.

Getting very fed up of fuel starvation at 70mph+..

I added a qt of oil to suki cuz shes still puking oil out the side cover. friday cant come sooner im tired of having an oily left boot and oil on my rear tire. it doesnt inspire confidence in making left turns. hopefully by next week ill be changing the left cover gasket and valve cover gasket. might as well check the valve clearance while im in there too and balance the carbs too. oh and an oil change. after that itll be rear brake pads and maybe some suspension work so i stop bobbing and bottoming out the front fork everywhere i go. anyone know if you can order the little color caps for the highbeam and turn directional indicators on the gauge bezel? im missing them. they just popped off on the freeway! maintaining and fixing your only transportation is a slow and careful experience.

As a part of Trey's gender reassignment from gender confused purple to boy-band blue, I gave him a new battery. Organizing the new bike cave - I found a battery. Well, it almost isn't a battery because it is sooooo small and weighs nothing. It comes with lots of padding to fill up the battery box because it is so tiny but more power than your regular acid battery.

Also found a set of brake pads while sorting parts. So put new rear pads on Trey. I think he needed new rear pads. What do you think? Pads were so worn that when pistons got pushed back in to make room for new pads, the rear brake reservoir overflowed.

Where's the battery? So much empty space now in the battery box. This tiny guy has more power. Sitting for at least 6 months in a box and has 13.7 volts. Started Trey faster than regular battery (which, by the way, was almost new).

It comes with LOTS of sticky back foam to fill in the battery box so the new one doesn't bounce all around. Now it is nice and snug as a bug in a rug!

You can see the box the new battery came in. Notice how small it is (based on the cavity in the foam) compared to a regular battery. All that foam in the box goes in the battery box on the bike to fill it up because the new battery is so small.

Trey in the midst of gender reassignment. Purple tail & tank off. Blue tank on. Making sure tank petcock doesn't leak. Tank petcock still on purple tank as it's got gas in it.

I went for a ride to test out the new front suspension i installed on Tuesday (progressive springs, 15w fork oil.)

Wow, looked at that battery on Shorai's site and it's listed at $153.95. Worth it Adidas?

Battery: Lighter, no acid to corrode things. More power. Longer life. To me its worth it. I'm sure a racer would want it for the drop in weight.

TREY IS A BOY! Just had to finish and take him for a spin.
Also, NEW OEM mirrors, new Roaring Toys gas cap. 0.5 liter spare fuel bottle. tested petcock: now works correctly as put in a gallon or so and ran out shortly in ON then ran fine in RES (has spare bottle just in case). Will look at fuel tap on purple tank later.

Also put on cast knuckle and stock rear shock (removed Kat shock) I like the ride of the stock shock. Not as stiff and the rear is lower where I like it. Kat shock and a couple steel knuckles can be seen on the floor.

Next is a good washing. Then deal with him wanting to "mark his territory" later. You can see the couple drops on the cardboard. That's from being there a week. So not that bad yet. The PO told me about that and gave me a set of gaskets he hadn't put on yet, so it is not a surprise and not that bad (yet).

mister

@Addy, where did you get the OEM mirrors and what did they set you back?

My left has a small bit of damage to it and local Suzuki dealer wants a tad shy of a hundred bux for one  :o

Good score on the battery  :thumb:

MIRROR ASSY, REAR VIEW RH
56500-01D20    1    $64.73 (same price for left)

Then, I usually wait until they have a special bike sale or event where they give up to 25% off on all parts. I always get a 10% discount being a member if the Suzuki Owners Club (but they often give me 15% because I buy so much)

Your dollar is about the same as the US dollar right now so shop around. "Never pay retail"

I don't think I spent $150 for the battery. I'll have to check my receipts (if I kept that one). Probably will replace batteries in Suzi and Junior before the year end so I don't have to worry about weak batteries in the winter. I hate the acid and the corrosion. Plus the good battery means there is one less thing I have to check. (Lowest price I see right now is $140). The way I see it, I could spend $50 for as lead/acid battery and worry about it, check acid levels, worry about corrosion and poor performance when cold and replace in a couple years. Or spend $140 and never have to worry about it - 2 to 4 times the life, no gasses or acids, faster charge and more power, holds charge for 1 year. If you can afford it, I see no reason not to get one. Or look at it as a one time investment to save money over the life of the battery.

Here's an FAQ on the batteries. They have 3 models. Mine is the strongest. The middle one (LFX09L2-BX12) is $100 and still better than a lead acid battery.

There were past thread from someone wanting to put in 2 batteries for cold days. I bet laying sideways, you could easily put 2 of these in the battery box. However, if you had one of these you probably wouldn't need 2 batteries.

Exact part number is LFX14L2-BS12

(yesterday) I replaced suzi's frame fuel tap with a honda crf250x one. Took about 4 hours, between changing the tap, replacing fuel lines and having to drain the tank..

Note to anyone doing the same job soon:
>Start with an empty tank. Completely empty
>5/16" ID with 15mm OD fuel hose will JUST fit on the tank, if you sane down the ends of the hose - the pipes on the tank are too close. I had to use a jubilee clip thing to hold both together - its working so far.
>Lower the crf tap down approx 2" and rearwards approx 1" with a small bracket, much easier to get to than stock one.

Oh, i also re-routed some wires that were visible and bugging me..

Oracle

finally fixed the stator cover leak. the old gasket pulled in on itself so there was no gasket for about an inch on the stator cover. gettin the old gasket off was a pita but well worth it since i finally dont have to worry about oily boots!!! i shouldve taken pics but i was in a hurry since i was running out of daylight and the neighbor wanted to show me his cbr600.
