First, where are you? It would be good to have your location in your profile 'cause there might be a buddy near you with one. If you were in Seattle, well, we're parts whores.

Second, they are only about $9 new OEM at a dealer. Shops should be open tomorrow so you can get a new one.

GS clutch lever is pretty unique. To use a different lever, you'd need the perch to go with it and a custom cable so the clutch cable doesn't hit the instruments.

i found this i can pick up tonight and 10 bux aint bad if it gets me to work in the morning... i had to use the starter and speed shift to get the poor bike home... I can handle the clutch switch not working, i just need something to get me through a few days so i can order a red/carbon fiber lever set

since i know most of yall love crash details this was a annoying one...

I was turning off 6th street onto the feeder ramp for I-35, I put a little power down to zip up the ramp and the street turned to ice under me, the rear wheel slipped and the bike went down pretty softly on the left side, I seem to be very good at jumping off my bike in low speed accidents because of the 3 times i have crashed all three i jumped away, this one i less jumped and more just pushed the bike away while we were falling. It was very surreal, I skidded on my side for just a second and I just watched as my bike slide across the pavement sparking on the center stand arm as it went. Some guys rushed over and surrounded me and stopped traffic and helped me get my bike (which was still running and in gear lol!) over to the side of the road. They checked me head to toe and not a cut or scratch on me, I didn't even scratch my arms or gloves (no jacket on... think i might invest in one of those next pay check) didn't hit my helmet or anything. My blue jeans were now black jeans from the grease and crap on the road... (roads are really nasty...)  but overall it wasn't bad... I would of just picked up and rode home if my clutch lever wasn't broken, I got my fiance out there and told her i wanted to experiment with the starter thing... Thank god it worked and I got my bike home nice and easy. Speed shifting is pretty easy but going down without a clutch SUCKS! then every red light you have to kill the engine or let the gear do it because you have to be in 1st! uggg... but aside from the trial and tribulations of getting it home, for my first crash that was more than just a little one... I think my little suki did just fine.

If the base of the lever is OK but the handle gone, for a day do this:
Drill a hole in what's left
Jam a bolt or metal rod into there (if right size, can probably epoxy it in, no need to tap the hole)
Walla! Instant redneck clutch lever.

nope was broke at the mount, so the part that the bolt holds on and the part that pulls the clutch were separated... so, I went to wally world grabbed me some jb qwik and we will see what happens tomorrow... worst comes to worst it snaps and i'm screwed... but the break was very jagged so the jb weld will how have a lot of good surface to stick to. gunna order me some carbon fiber brake levers since my bike is going to get the dinoc vinyl, though i have lost a lot of confidence in the corners because of this... damn roads here suck...

I hear ya. I hated riding in LA because it was hot, oil dripping from cars and the middle of the roads turned into oily ice. Especially at corners where they stop for lights and sit there dripping oil.

At least here in Seattle we get enough rain to keep the roads pretty free of oil.

Good luck on the fix. Makes me glad we have a stock of parts here and there are a bunch of GS500 owners in the area. Ever though of moving to West Seattle?

crzydood17

haha, i like the cold just fine but cold wet and windy is the trifecta of me not wanting to be there lol! well... the jb weld was looking good... then i tried to sand it... jb qwik is rubbish...
