That makes sense.  Jesus would have to play golf.

IIRC onlypastrana199? ( here on gstwin ) played rugby. was either rugby or lacrosse. am envious of whomever can play either one. collisions like football minus padding. quite painful

Maybe you'd like to see some Australian Rugby League. And particularly the State Of Origin series - talk about big men, big hits, no padding.

- Cause there is no break every couple of minutes - just right for inserting TV ads.
- Cause there is too much money in it as it is with TV rights, etc.,  to blow that investment and have Another popular sport.
- Cause it only goes for it's set time and that's it, there is no 60 minute game that takes 3 hours to play - when Aust brought the State of Origin to the US they had to delay the game due to the slackness of the crowd to actually arrive at kickoff (the crowd did not understand the game doesn't go for 3 hours like Gridiron and would have missed most of the game if it had started on time).
- Americans are not good at it compared to  the rest of the world

I agree that American's arnt as good, but thats cause we dont have a very large following here to pull from for a damn good international team. unlike other countrys that have there starting 15 that have been training to be on a world cup team for there entire lives (just FYI it's all on Ireland for the world cup  :flipoff:)

The "not enough people play it" thing just doesn't seem to wash well with me. I mean, Australia as a minuscule 20 million people, the USA has 15 times that man people, NZ has maybe 4.5 million. I'd bet there are more people in the USA playing Rugby than in NZ. But I think the USA's problem with Rugby is the same as Australia's with soccer... not enough Good competition locally to force people to Elevate their game, and as any semi-good ones are spotted, they leave the country to play elsewhere keeping the local comp weak, and with a weak comp no improvement happens.

i agree mostly. in the US, our sports are the NFL, NBA, NHL in most northn locales, and nascrap. have to get my rugby fix by either hitting the net looking for games being played elsewhere , or find some ivy league schools playing a match.

Rugby, it's a great game but everyone knows that god plays cricket.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

I recall a famous Rugby player ( is there such a thing?) making fun of American football, saying that he; "Would jump out of  a fu*kin airplane without a parachute with that much padding".
